Health West celebrates new building in Aberdeen

ABERDEEN — Ardis Parsons has been at Health West’s Aberdeen clinic since it opened 30 years ago.
Since the clinic opened in a double-wide trailer and then moved into a small building in the center of town, she’s understandably thrilled with the new facility.
“It’s just a dream come true,” said Parsons, the clinic manager.
Stephen Weeg, Health West’s executive director, noted that the new building “gives us some space that we’ve needed. We can have two medical providers instead of just one.”

Crapo candid with Chamber

BLACKFOOT — U.S. Senator Mike Crapo, R-Idaho, didn’t mince words during his address to the Greater Blackfoot Chamber of Commerce on Wednesday.
“I think we’re in trouble in our country, facing a very, very serious challenge in a lot of different ways.
“We need change, but not the kind of change we’re seeing,” Crapo continued. “Congress is in an absolute spending freefall.
“I don’t believe Idahoans believe in this,” he added. “I don’t believe in spending us into prosperity. No economy in the world has sustained the kind of debt we’re driving toward.”
Crapo said he was speaking to raise the alarm.

Fair ‘a working vacation’

BLACKFOOT — Bill and Sharol Conn from Aberdeen have been the superintendent and assistant superintendent of sheep and boer goats for the past 12 years at the Eastern Idaho State Fair (EISF).
“We like doing it,” Bill said. “We take our vacation; it’s like a working holiday.  
“We like the people, the atmosphere and the competition,” he said.
