SHELLEY â€“ National champions, Proform Airborne Jump Rope, performed twice Saturday at Spud Day in Shelley.
The team of Paige Barker, Stephanie Bowman and Janessa Brown earned first place at the 2010 National Jump Rope Competition. These three athletes won the national title in â€śDouble Dutch Single Free Style.â€ť The national competition was in June in Galveston, Texas. Â
This is the second year in a row Barker earned first place in this event. In 2008, Barker and her teammates placed third.
BLACKFOOT â€” For perfect attendance this school year, every fifth grader in District 55 (Blackfoot) will be given a new 21-speed Diamondback Mountain Bike by Phil Meador Toyota in Pocatello.
A 2011 model year bike will be special ordered and purchased from Scott's Ski and Sports in Pocatello, Jason Meador from Phil Meador Toyota said.
The program is called Perfect Attendance Spells Success (PASS), Meador said. The program is for every fifth grader attending school in District 55 (Blackfoot), Pocatello and American Falls.
BLACKFOOT â€” National Guard soldiers from the 116th Cavalry Brigade Combat Team from throughout Idaho are departing today for Camp Shelby in Mississippi.
Three planes are departing from the Idaho Falls Airport this morning between 8 a.m. and 10 a.m. This afternoon, two planes will depart from the Pocatello Regional Airport between 4 p.m. and 5 p.m.
Total personal income in Idaho rose back over $50 billion this spring on an annualized basis, marking the first time personal income has been that high since summer 2008.
The nine-tenths of a percent increase from the winter quarter was driven by a substantial rise in the amount of transfer payments â€“ Social Security, disability, pension, unemployment and other benefits â€“ Idahoans received during the second quarter of this year. The increase also reflects a modest uptick in worker wages that was partially offset by a slight decline in business profits.
Kay Perkins Lyman, 95, passed away Wednesday, Sept. 15,
2010, in Blackfoot.

Seth J. Taylor, 86, of Emmett and formerly of Blackfoot died Friday, Sept. 17, at home.

Alma Reid, an 89-year-old Presto area resident, died Sunday, Sept. 19, 2010, at her home surrounded by family following an illness. Funeral arrangements will be announced by the Hawker Funeral Home.
Cloris Butler Benson, 97, passed away peacefully on Sept. 8, 2010, at home. She looked forward to being reunited with loved ones that had gone before her.
She was born Aug. 3, 1913, to Ethel Jackson and Marion Butler in Driggs where she grew up, went to school and worked on the farm. In 1932 she went to Provo to attend BYU.
On Sept. 12, 1934, she married Winston Benson in the Logan LDS Temple. They raised their family in Blackfoot where she taught kindergarten for 22 years.
Cornell Harold Baxter, Jr, 56, of Blackfoot passed away Friday, Sept. 17, 2010, at Eastern Idaho Regional Medical Center in Idaho Falls.
He was born March 20, 1954, in Blackfoot, the son of Cornell Harold Baxter, Sr. and Shirley A. Christensen.
Cornell has lived his entire life in Blackfoot and attended schools in the Blackfoot District.
He married Dee Williams; together they had a daughter, Courtney. and then were later divorced.
He was a welder and a member of the Sheet Metals Workers Union. He had worked the last 10 years for Industrial Metals.
LeRoy Rueben Penoyer, 71, of Blackfoot passed away Friday, Sept. 17, 2010, at Eastern Idaho Regional Medical Center in Idaho Falls from heart failure.
He was born April 20, 1939 in Groveland to Harry Albert Penoyer and Elsie Akers
LeRoy lived his entire life in Blackfoot. He attended schools in Springfield and Blackfoot.
He was stationed in Germany in the Army as a truck driver.
He married Barbara Jean Dixon. They had seven children and later divorced.
