BLACKFOOT â€” It was a home game for the Blackfoot Lady Bronco basketball team but it felt as if they were on the road from a statistical perspective as the visiting Skyline squad shot 28 free throws, compared to 4 for Blackfoot, in a 39-34 defeat at the hands of the Lady Grizzlies.
"Well, it was a much closer game," Blackfoot head coach Mike Kirkham said. "Bottom line is that the kids want to win and they are really trying. I haven't seen any of them giving up and as long as they'll continue with that attitude, things will have to get better."
THOMAS â€” Snake River unveiled their basketball team on Thursday night and what a sight it was for the home crowd as the Panthers looked to be in mid season form with a 78-44 shellacking of the Malad Dragons.
"These kids are so unselfish," Snake River head coach Bob Coombs said. "I was really pleased with everybody tonight. It was a good start, I'm excited."

BLACKFOOT â€” The Blackfoot Community Players presents the musical "Annie," the touching story of orphan Annie's search for her parents. "Annie" opens tonight at the Nuart Theater and runs Dec. 3, 4, 6, 7, 10, 11 and 13. All shows are at 7:30 p.m.
Director Sharon Hoge said she has wanted to do a production of "Annie" for several years. "Annie" was written as a Christmas show, and is quite a large production.
"It's a great family show," Hoge said.
BLACKFOOT â€”Â Required space for multi-family dwellings and the fall height of cell towers were the topics of discussion for the first couple hours of the Planning and Zoning (P&Z) work meeting on Draft 14.
P&Z commissioners Ann Christensen, Gay Sorensen, Larry Kohler and Randy Turpin participated in this work session Wednesday.
Kohler disagreed with enforcement of single wide homes under Manufactured Homes, Article 5.2.26(4)(a).
Ronald Inskeep, 71, died Monday, Nov. 29, 2010, at Harms Memorial Hospital in American Falls.
A Celebration of Life Dinner will be held Saturday, Dec. 4, 2010, at 2 p.m. at the Mennonite Fellowship Hall in Aberdeen. Arrangements are under the direction of the Anderson Family Funeral Home in Arco.
Dorsel Claude Baden, 84, of Blackfoot passed away Tuesday, Nov. 30, 2010, at his home.
Funeral arrangements are pending under the direction of Hawker Funeral Home.
James Ronald Hastings, 66, of Basalt, passed away Nov. 28, 2010, at Eastern Idaho Regional Medical Center in Idaho Falls surrounded by his family.
James was born Sept. 2, 1944, in Brigham City, Utah, to a sheep herder, George Danley and Nettie Lavon Tracy Hastings.
He married Terry Faye Swearingen on May 1, 1965.Â Together they had four children, Kayron, Jamie, Rhonda, and Shane.
James served in the United States Army based mostly across seas in Germany.Â He was a hard worker, working for 44 years at Penford Products in Idaho Falls.
BLACKFOOT â€” Blackfoot School Board Trustee Pat Colman has resigned from her position on the board, citing personal reasons. Colman was the trustee for zone 3.
Colman said she gave her resignation prior to the Nov. 18 board meeting. She was not present at that meeting.
Colman, who served as treasurer on the board, said she had wanted to resign from that position but ended up totally resigning as a trustee.
IDAHO FALLS â€” The Blackfoot Bronco basketball team opened their 2010-11 campaign on Wednesday evening, traveling north up I-15 to tangle with the 5A Tigers of Idaho Falls.
At the end of the night, the home standing Tigers held off a furious fourth quarter rally by the Broncos by hitting 18 of 22 free throw attempts in the stanza, handing the Broncos a 76-62 loss.
BLACKFOOT â€“Â The Fantasy officially opens todayâ€”the tree room will be open from 10 a.m.-9 p.m. today, Thursday and Friday and from 10 a.m.-2 p.m. Saturday. The tree auction will be Thursday at 7 p.m. The gift boutique and Sweet Shoppe will also be open all days.
