BLACKFOOT — On Friday, Bingham County Chiropractic donated 150 winter coats to the Bingham Crisis Center. During October, for the past four years, Bingham County Chiropractic has spearheaded this coat drive under the direction of Dr. Michael Johnson, Cari Garrett and Dixie Chapman from the Bingham Crisis Center.
"We love the coat drive; especially receiving children's coats," Chapman said. "Anyone who needs a coat can come to the Crisis Center to get one. No one in Bingham County should be cold."
"We do this every year because we know the coats go to a good cause," Johnson said,
FORT HALL — The U.S. Environmental Protection Agency has extended the public comment period for the FMC Operable Unit of the Eastern Michaud Flats Superfund Site until Dec. 2.
The decision comes after several people speaking at the public hearing earlier this month in Fort Hall expressed that they did not have enough time to review the information regarding the proposed plan to provide comment at that hearing. Many also criticized the EPA's handling of that meeting.
FORT HALL — Speaking to a large group gathered at the Idaho Chapter of the Federal Bar Association's first Indian Law Conference in Fort Hall, Larry Echo Hawk, assistant secretary of Indian Affairs for the U.S. Department of the Interior, got emotional while talking about crimes committed on Indian reservations.
"Tribes will never meet their full potential to have prosperous communities without safe communities," Echo Hawk said.
He said public safety is one of three priorities outlined by the Obama administration and is the primary concern among tribal leaders throughout the country.
BLACKFOOT — Colby Pearson scored four touchdowns and the heavily favored Blackfoot Broncos took care of business in a convincing 41-13 home win over Wood River on Friday evening.
The visiting Wolverines put a brief scare into the large Blackfoot crowd who braved the bone chilling wind as they forced a fumble on Blackfoot's first offensive play of the game.
The defense quickly alleviated that anxious moment however as they drove the Wolverines back on the next three plays and after a punt, the Broncos wound up with a net loss of five yards on the the whole series of events.
