Jewel K. âKittyâ Bolinder, 62, of Firth passed away with her husband Terry by her side, Sunday morning, Oct. 16, 2011 at the University of Utah hospital from complications of multiple strokes.
Kitty was born Dec. 7, 1948, in Hawaii to James and Beatrice Sayles. She grew up and attended school in Hawaii, then went on to serve in the military as a nurse in her early adult years.
BLACKFOOT â Crop Production Services (CPS) has completed a two-year project in support of public education. Each year, CPS chooses a service project to benefit the community.
In 2010, the CPS crew first started spraying weeds for the Idaho Science and Technology Charter School (ISTCS) construction site.
The CPS crew continued to kill weeds and hay to make a playground and planted grass in a three acre lot for that playground.
The Rockford brand of CPS donated the chemical and the application of specially blended grass seed needed to plant the lot.
BLACKFOOT â The Blackfoot Public Library is having a fall used book sale from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. this Saturday in the basement of the library at 129 N. Broadway. Annick Kittleman, historian of the Friends of the Blackfoot Public Library, and Cathie Fields, president of Friends of the Library, hold some of the books that are for sale.
Beginning prices for books are 10 cent a copy; 25 cents for a bag and $2 for new books.
"We have something for everyone," said Fields. "If you buy anything, you must take home a book that is free."
BLACKFOOT â Shortly before the United Way kickoff in Bingham County, SEICAA program coordinator Bobette Jackson helped an individual in need.
"About 20 minutes ago I helped a gal with some diapers and baby wipes," Jackson said. "Without United Way dollars I couldn't have helped as much."
Representatives of United Way of Southeastern Idaho were at the SEICAA office on Wednesday spreading their agency's message as part of the Greater Blackfoot Chamber of Commerce After Hours event.
THOMAS â The Snake River School District received a grade of A plus in its audit report Wednesday night.
Auditor Tim Folke with Folke CPA in Payette presented the audit report to the trustees.
"When doing a school audit, auditors look at two sets of figures," Folke said. Under compliance, an auditor looks to see all covenants are met and the school has maintained its testing. Folke normally looks for the school district's compliance in June.

BOISE, Idaho (AP) â A 7th District Judge has scheduled death row inmate Paul Ezra Rhoades to be executed next month. He would be the first person put to death in Idaho since 1994 and the state's second execution since 1957.
Rhoades, who was convicted of killing three people in Idaho Falls and Blackfoot in 1988, is scheduled to be executed by lethal injection on Nov. 18. Seventh District Judge Jon Shindurling issued the death warrants Wednesday.
The inmate executed in 1994, Keith Wells, voluntarily gave up his appeals and asked to be put to death.

Funeral services will be at 11 a.m. Saturday Oct. 22, 2011 at the Firth Stake Center (823 North 675 East) in Basalt.
The family will receive friends Friday from 7-8:30 p.m. at Nalder Funeral Home (110 West Oak) in Shelley and Saturday from 9:30-10:40 a.m. before the services. at the church. Interment will be in the Firth Cemetery.

Robert âBobâ Jay Wilkes, 83, of Springfield passed away Monday, Oct. 17, 2011 at his home.
Arrangements are pending under the direction of Hawker Funeral Home and will be announced in a full obituary.
Walter âVernâ Inskeep 77, of Aberdeen passed away Monday Oct. 17, 2011.
The funeral will be at 11:30 a.m. Monday, Oct. 24, 2011 at The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, 149 W. Central, Aberdeen.
The visitation will be Sunday, Oct. 23, 2011 from 5:30 to 7 p.m. at Davis- Rose Mortuary, 170 Idaho Street, American Falls and at the church an hour before the funeral. Interment will be at Aberdeen Cemetery.
