BLACKFOOT â€” A wet and warm storm system is forecast to pass through the region today through Saturday, bringing wind, rain and some snow to the area, according to the National Weather Service.
The system will also bring warmer temperatures with a high near 42 degrees today and 47 degrees Thursday. Overnight lows are forecast to stay at or above freezing through Friday.
Today there is a 40 percent chance of precipitation coupled with sustained winds of 14 miles per hour and gusts up to 22 mph. Wind and rain are forecast to increase overnight and continue Thursday and into Friday.
Ennis Kent Anderson returned to his Heavenly Father, surrounded by family, on Dec. 22, 2011.
He was born Nov. 14,1938 in Shelley, Idaho, to Leon W. and Cassia Anderson. He served in the Central States Mission. He married his sweetheart, Priscilla Williams, April 20, 1962, in the Idaho Falls Temple. He graduated from Blackfoot High School, Idaho State University, and University of Utah.
Diana Suzanne Myers, 55, of Blackfoot, lost her battle with cancer on Dec. 26, 2011, surrounded by her family at home.
She was born March 10, 1956 in Pomona, California to Sol Clayton and Beverley Eden Kitchell Sullivan.
Diana worked for the Blackfoot Elks Lodge for 8 years, cooking for Friday night dinners and banquets.
Diana is survived by her husband, Peter Myers, her mother, Beverley Sullivan, her children: Delanie, Matthew and Rachel and her grandchildren, Nickolas and Easton. She is also survived by her sisters, Mishelle and Heidi and her brother, Michael.
St George, Utah â€“ Jay Ellsworth Parrish, 74, passed away Friday, Dec. 23, 2011. Jay was born July 5, 1937 in Aberdeen, Idaho, to Lafayette Stanley Parrish and Fleta Elsie Galloway Parrish. Jay married Donna Marie Hansen on July 2, 1958 in Blackfoot, Idaho.
Jay and Donna lived and raised their family in Blackfoot, Idaho. Jay retired from a successful 30-year career as District Manager for the Idaho Department of Agriculture. Jay was an avid hunter and fisherman, and he enjoyed camping and boating with his family every available weekend.
Linda Jean Chaffin Warner, 60, formerly of Swan Valley, passed away Saturday, Dec. 3, 2011 at her home in Lake Havasu City, Arizona.
Memorial services in Lindaâ€™s honor will be held at 11 a.m. Tuesday, Jan. 3, 2012 at Wood Funeral Home (273 North Ridge Ave.). The family will visit with friends from 10-10:45 a.m. prior to services at Woodâ€™s. There will be a luncheon afterward at the Eagles Lodge (635 Hemmert Avenue) in Idaho Falls and following that, there will be a gathering at the Covered Wagon in Swan Valley. BLACKFOOT â€” The Blackfoot Education Association hosted an open forum with Rep. Dennis Lake and Sen. Steve Bair Tuesday night to allow teachers and others in the community to openly discuss issues prior to the start of the 2012 Idaho legislative session.
"We wanted an opportunity to visit with them, remind them of our concerns," said organizer Bekki Mangum, who teaches at Mountain View Middle School.
The forum turned into a roundtable discussion with teachers expressing their concerns about education including budget cuts, education reform, pay for performance and online classes.
