THOMAS — The kick-off for the Math-a-Thon at the Snake River Middle School and Rockford Elementary School was Thursday. This event is sponsored by the PTA.
Snake River varsity basketball players joined the fun to spur on enthusiasm for this fund raiser.
This is the fifth year the Math-a-Thon has been in the middle school and the first year for fourth graders at Rockford Elementary.
Students have 20 days to get pledges and/or donations for the Math-a-Thon.
On Wednesday, Feb. 16, fourth, fifth and sixth graders in the two schools will take a 100-problem math test.
BLACKFOOT — The Blackfoot School District is asking voters to renew a $1.975 million supplemental levy at the March 8 election.
The amount of the levy, which is used to supplement funding for maintenance, technology, teacher salaries and other items, has not changed since 2007, and this year district patrons should actually see a slight decrease in their school tax burden even if the levy is passed.
BLACKFOOT — A near capacity crowd was on hand at Blackfoot High School as a pair of storied wrestling programs collided on the mats for a non-conference duel.
When the dust had settled, the men in black stood triumphant with a convincing 72-3 victory over Snake River.
"It feels good to renew the heritage of this match," Blackfoot head coach Brian Barlow said. "Shoot, you have one of the most storied programs on one side of the river and another on the other side of the river and when you meet in the gym and feel the buzz, it's a pretty special place here at Blackfoot High School."
