Cougars remain unbeaten with 9-0 win over West Jefferson

FIRTH — Behind the strong arm of freshman hurler Conner Montgomery, the Firth Cougars remained unbeaten on the year with a solid 9-0 conference win over West Jefferson on Thursday afternoon.
Montgomery set the tone early as he needed just 10 pitches to sit down the Panther hitters in the first two innings combined.
That dominance continued throughout the contest as the talented youngster picked up a complete game win as he scattered just 3 hits on the afternoon.

Lady Cougars dominate Lady Panthers

FIRTH — Kelsey Oliver carried a no-hit bid into the sixth inning and the Lady Cougar bats erupted for 10 runs on 9 hits as Firth remained undefeated in conference play with a 10-0 victory over long time rival West Jefferson on Thursday afternoon.
"I'm just real proud of the girls today," Firth head coach Rachel Olsen said. "We have put in a lot of time in the snow and the rain just waiting for it to click and I am just happy that it clicked today."

Fatal crash in Blackfoot

BLACKFOOT — A Blackfoot man died after an early morning crash Thursday that resulted in his vehicle catching fire.
Tobie Robinson, 23, of Blackfoot, was traveling northbound on Highway 91 in a 1995 Acura Legend at approximately 2:30 a.m. when for unknown reasons his vehicle went off the right side of the roadway near Shilling Street, according to the Idaho State Police. Robinson's vehicle came to rest on the embankment of the Blackfoot River. He was wearing his seatbelt and was trapped inside his vehicle as it started on fire, ISP said.
