ABERDEEN â€” Tierney Warren won the title of Aberdeenâ€™s 2012 Distinguished Young Woman Saturday evening.
As the master of ceremonies said, â€śThe DYW title winner is not just a competitor but a winner from a group of winners.â€ť
The eight Aberdeen High School juniors were judged on interview, fitness, talent, self-expression and scholastics. They performed before a crowd that nearly filled the Aberdeen Middle School gymnasium.
Tierney not only won a $1,200 scholarship for the 2012 DYW title, she also won scholarships for interview, fitness and talent.
BLACKFOOT â€” Approximately 90 men, women and children walked a mile through downtown Blackfoot on Saturday to speak out against sexual assault and gender violence in the first "Walk a Mile in Her Shoes" event. Participants raised and donated more than $3,600 for the Bingham Crisis Center.
