Clayton Charles Young, 32

September 7, 2011

Clayton Charles Young, 32, of Blackfoot passed away, Monday, Sept. 5, 2011, from injuries sustained in a car accident.
He was born July 19, 1979, in Blackfoot, the son of Randy and Linda Daley Young.
Clayton received his education in Blackfoot and graduated from Blackfoot High School.
He married Ly Doung and they were later divorced, but their greatest accomplishments were the birth of their two sons, Kenny (11) and Tommy (8).
He worked for Action Rooter and Young’s Septic Service.
Clayton enjoyed playing pool, fishing, music and especially spending time with his boys.

Tamara Rose ‘Rosi’ Medicine Horse, 33

Tamara Rose “Rosi” Medicine Horse, 33, of Blackfoot passed away Tuesday, Sept. 6, 2011 at Eastern Idaho Regional Medical Center in Idaho Falls.
 Services will be held at 7 p.m. on Wednesday, Sept. 7, 2011, at Hawker Funeral Home, 132 South Shilling Avenue in Blackfoot.  Rosi will be taken to the Eleanor Dixey residence on Highway 91 at 10 a.m. on Thursday, Sept. 8, 2011, and remain there until Native American Burial Services take place at 2 p.m. on Saturday, Sept. 10, 2011 at the Lincoln Creek Cemetery. Condolences may be sent to the family at condolences@hawkerfuneralhome.com.

Desmond C. Weiser, 47

FORT HALL — Desmond Craig Weiser, 47, passed away due to injuries received in an automobile accident on Tuesday, Sept. 6, 2011.
Traditional Native American teepee viewing will be held from noon Wednesday, Sept. 7, at the Karen Weiser residence on Pokibro Lane, Gibson, until burial in the Gibson cemetery on East Ferry Butte road, Fort Hall Reservation.
A full obituary is forthcoming. All funeral arrangements are under the care of the Weiser family.

Scott A. Campbell, 59

September 7, 2011

Scott A. Campbell, 59, of Blackfoot,died unexpectedly in Custer County on Aug. 26, 2011.
He was born Nov. 8, 1951, in Chillicothe, Ohio, to Charles Edward Campbell, Jr. and Kathryn Erdmann Campbell. His family moved to Idaho Falls when Scott was 11 years old.
He graduated from Skyline High School in Idaho Falls in 1970, after which he joined the US Army. In 1978 he graduated from Idaho State University. He worked for Idaho Transportation Dept. from 1982 until his retirement in 2008.

On September 07, 2011, around 08:00 a.m., Idaho State Police investigated a two vehicle crash on SH39 at mile marker 48.5, west of Blackfoot.

MORNING NEWS
THOMAS – Idaho State Police officers responded to a crash involving a school bus this morning just east of Snake River High School.
The accident happened around 8 a.m. and involved a school bus and another car.
One eye witness reports "that it looked like the bus may have rear-ended the car."
Northbound lands of U.S. Highway 39 were blocked temporarily, but are now open.
We will post more information as it becomes available.

Tattoo artist offering ink for Nakamura headstone

BLACKFOOT — Friends and family of local tattoo artist Kim Nakamura are raising funds to honor his memory with a headstone.
Nakamura died Aug. 28 of complications from a medical illness. He owned and operated Til Death Tattoo at 1010 W. Bridge St. Ste. A.
His longtime friend Juan Soltero of Salty's Ink Tattoos in Pocatello is offering tattoos at Kim's shop today. All proceeds will help purchase a headstone, with any additional proceeds going to Kim's five-year-old daughter. T-shirts and CD's of Kim's rap music are also for sale.

Garth Lee, 82

September 6, 2011

Garth Lee, 82, of Blackfoot passed away Saturday, Sept. 3, 2011. at his home in Moreland.
Funeral services will be at 11a.m. Saturday, Sept. 10, 2011, at the Hawker Funeral Home. Burial will follow at the Riverside-Thomas Cemetery.
Family will meet with friends one hour prior to services at the Funeral Home.

Mary Louise Chapman, 91

September 6, 2011

Mary Louise Chapman, formerly of Blackfoot, passed away on June 20, 2011, with her family at her side. She will be remembered as a loving and generous wife, mother, grandmother, and friend.
Mary Louise and Lorna Faye Morse were born on Sept. 8,
1919, in Cedar Hill, Idaho. During their formative years, the twins were inseparable. Being a twin was very special to both of them and they cherished their special relationship throughout their lives.

Youngsters show off driving skills

BLACKFOOT — Nine-year-old drivers of Shire and Belgian draft horses competed Monday morning at the Eastern Idaho State Fair (EISF).
Kirsten Barney, age 9, won first place driving two Shires. Zoey Olaveson, age 9, won second place driving two Belgians.
The girls put the draft horses through their paces. On command, they put the horses into a trot, walked them, turned them a different direction and backed them up.
Kirsten said this was the second time she has driven the team.
"She rides horses so she knows how to handle them," her mom said.
