DROWSY DRIVER: Dec. 30, 7:58 p.m.: A caller at Arctic Circle said there is man in the drive through that had slurred speech and fell asleep.
FIGHT: Dec. 31, 1:35 a.m.: A caller said there may be a fight behind the Best Western Inn.
GAS THEFT: Dec. 31, 3:57 p.m.: A caller at Chevron reported a man driving off without paying for $80 in gas.
SATAN: Jan. 1, 11:49 a.m.: A caller requested an officer because a man is disrupting the church and making statements that he is Satan.

Hal Bohlscheid, 76

January 12, 2012

Hal Bohlscheid, 76, a former longtime Pocatello resident, passed away, Monday, Jan. 9, 2012 at his home in Island Park.
As per his request cremation has been completed.
And no public services are scheduled at this time. 
Arrangements are under the direction of the Cornelison Funeral Home, 431 N. 15th Ave., Pocatello, 232-0542.

Velma Jim, 62

Velma Jim, 62, of Pocatello passed away Tuesday, Jan. 10, 2012 at her home from an extended illness.
She was born July 7, 1949 in Pocatello, the daughter of Theresa Marsh and Dietz Pongah Sr.
She graduated from high school in Chilocco, Okla., in 1966.
On October 9, 2009 she married LaVerne L. Jim.
Velma worked for the Shoshone Bannock Tribes and the Indian Health Services as a billing clerk.  She also served on the Tribal Enrollment Committee.
She enjoyed traveling, going to the casino, taking pictures and being with family and grandchildren.

Wet weather may return next week

BLACKFOOT — Forecasters have been predicting wet weather will return the second half of January, and it appears that the area may get to see some rain and snow next week.
The National Weather Service is forecasting that the upper ridge that has contributed to dry, cold weather in Eastern Idaho since late November is expected to move north, allowing a Pacific jet to move in and bring moisture to the Pacific Northwest as early as Sunday and continuing through next week.

Idaho Doctors' Hospital recognized for patient satisfaction

BLACKFOOT — The Idaho Doctors' Hospital has been recognized as one of the top health care facilities in the country for patient satisfaction.
Press Ganey Associates, Inc. has named the Idaho Doctors' Hospital as a 2011 Summit Award winner for inpatient patient satisfaction. It is one of 98 organizations to receive the honor in 2011 and one of 87 to be recognized for achieving and sustaining excellence in patient satisfaction.

Blackfoot wrestlers flex muscle against Hillcrest

BLACKFOOT — The Blackfoot Bronco wrestling team took advantage of 5 forfeits and then flexed their collective muscle to win 8 of the 10 remaining matches as they galloped through High Country Conference foe Hillcrest to the final tally of 69-9 on Wednesday evening.
