BLACKFOOT â€” The National Weather Service has issued a Winter Weather Advisory for the Snake River Plain including Blackfoot, Pocatello and Idaho Falls in effect from 10 p.m. this evening through Thursday afternoon.
The Winter Weather Advisory is for wind and blowing snow. Winds are expected to increase to 30 mph late tonight and remain strong through Thursday morning. Snowfall is forecast to begin around Wednesday afternoon.
A series of winter storms are expected to work across Idaho this week dropping heavy snow in the mountains and bringing rain and snow to the valleys.
Naomi Pharis, 88, a long time Groveland area resident, died Sunday, Jan. 15, 2012, at her home following an illness.Â
Naomi was born Sept. 10, 1923 in Aberdeen to Marvin William Elison and Leona Coolbear.Â She spent most of her lifetime in the Blackfoot area, graduating from Blackfoot High School.
On July 7, 1942 Naomi married Wesley Ellsworth Pharis in the Logan LDS Temple in Logan, Utah.Â
Naomi was a wonderful wife, mother and homemaker.Â In her free time she enjoyed crocheting, reading, puzzles, her garden and especially her family.
Dorothy entered into this world on July 30, 1921 at Oconto Falls, Wisc., and left this worldly existence on Jan. 14, 2012, at the Homestead Assisted Living Center in St. Anthony. In the 90 years she walked on this earth, she saw a great many achievements and tragedies, and her faith in Jesus Christ saw her through each and every one of them.

ON THIN ICE: Jan. 12, 5:39 p.m.: A caller said there are three children on the ice at Jensen Grove.
SHOPPING FOR WOMEN: Jan. 12, 5:51 p.m.: A woman said there is a man at Ridley's that is stalking women. She said he followed her though the store and she was uncomfortable so she asked someone from the store to escort her to her vehicle. She said he has an accent and is approaching women who are walking into Ridley's alone.
