Grant getting students in the pool

BLACKFOOT – Kids in the after school program at Wapello Elementary spent part of their afternoon taking swimming lessons at the Blackfoot Swimming Pool.
With the help of a 21st Century Grant, students at Wapello Elementary, Fort Hall Elementary and Independence High School are able to participate in after school enrichment activities.

Candidates 'Rocking the Native Voice' in Fort Hall

FORT HALL — The environment, education and mental health funding were three hot topics addressed by 17 local candidates at a voters forum in Fort Hall Monday night. A small group of Fort Hall residents attended the forum which was part of the Shoshone-Bannock Tribe's "Rocking the Native Vote" campaign — an effort to encourage Native Americans to exercise their voting power.

BLACKFOOT—Morning News publisher, Leonard Martin, is one of four Bingham County business people to be nominated for an Idaho State Journal (ISJ) Business Achievement Award. Martin, who has been publisher of the Morning News for the past seven years, worked as the advertising director of the Idaho State Journal in Pocatello for fourteen years prior to becoming the publisher of Blackfoot's newspaper.

BLACKFOOT—Every year as part of an age old tradition 14 strapping young men, seniors at Yale, gather together to enthusiastically sing songs across the world. This year the Whiffenpoofs, comically named in part of a joke that featured a mythical dragonfish over 100 years ago, will venture into Southeastern Idaho to display their vocal talents.
