Employees, friends and members of the community gathered at the "Stinkin' Cute Scrapbook Shop & Boutique" for a ribbon-cutting to celebrate the new business Friday afternoon.
It's a startling statistic that one in six Americans does not have enough access to food. Idaho-based- Alliance Title Co. is making a company-wide effort to make a difference with its "Closing the Hunger Gap" campaign, and Blackfoot's branch is more than happy to help out.
Ron Romrell, vice president and general manager of the local office, said, "As a company, we see a dramatic need to supply food to the food banks and help keep people fed."
Scouts throughout Southeastern Idaho and Western Wyoming were out in force Saturday picking up canned goods and non-perishable food items in their communities. The food items were contributed to local food banks for distribution.
The Grand Teton Council of the Boy Scouts of America (BSA) kicked off its annual "Scouting for Food" drive with distribution of the door hangers to local residences starting the week of Oct. 15. Food collection started at 9 a.m. last Saturday.
Scouting For Food involves several hundred young men (Scouts) in every community.
