Flamingoes flock to Blackfoot

BLACKFOOT — A flock of pink flamingoes, whether real or fake, is not something you see in people's yards in Blackfoot every day. However, if pink flamingoes happen to mysteriously appear in your yard within the next two week, it's likely that you've been "flocked" as part of a fundraiser for the Community Dinner Table (CDT).
Ronda Cheatham, food distribution coordinator for the CDT, said, the "You've Been Flocked" fundraiser is all in fun and is to help raise money for the CDT Christmas boxes, (food-filled boxes) that are distributed to families in need prior to Christmas.

Students learn of drunk driving danger

BLACKFOOT — Some residents living around Mountain View Middle School in Blackfoot became concerned when they saw Life Flight, fire trucks and ambulances converge on the school grounds Friday afternoon. However; they were relieved to hear that all the activity was part of a Red Ribbon Week demonstration at the school. Red Ribbon Week is the largest drug and alcohol prevention campaign in the country celebrated in nearly every middle school and high school in the country.

BAD LIVING CONDITIONS: Oct. 9, 2:12 p.m.: A woman requested someone to check on some small children because she heard there is no food or electricity in the home and a sex offender is living at the residence.

SMOKE BOMB: Oct. 9, 4:12 p.m.: A caller at the courthouse reported finding a red ball with a stem on it and said it may be a smoke bomb.

GAS THEFT: Oct. 9, 4:47 p.m.: A caller at Stinker Station said a vehicle left without paying for $54.91 in gas.

Cougars roar!

POCATELLO — The Firth Cougars opened their 2012 2A state football playoffs on Thursday evening in Holt Arena where they scored early and they scored often in a 63-14 landslide victory over the Vikings of Valley.
It was a game of big plays for the Cougars as they scored 7 touchdowns which were longer than 20 yards including a 5 touchdown evening from 2A player of the year candidate Mitch Orme.

Concert goers converge on Blackfoot

BLACKFOOT — Regardless of the temperature readings, Blackfoot was the hot spot to be Thursday night as hundreds of music fans from throughout the region converged to Club El Centenario for concert performances by popular bands All American Rejects, Boys Like Girls and Parachute.
Fans from as far away as Salt Lake City, began lining up outside of the club as early as 1:30 p.m. to ensure a place close to the stage, for the show that started at 7:30 p.m.

Boil alert issued for Blackfoot

BLACKFOOT — A boil water alert has been issued for Blackfoot residents living east of Fisher Street. This area includes Blackfoot High School, Stoddard Elementary School and State Hospital South.
Fecal coliform, better known as E. coli, bacteria was found in the water supply on Thursday. These bacteria can make you sick and may pose a special health risk for infants, young children and people with severely compromised immune systems.
