In recognition of Disability Awareness Month during October, Dawn Enterprises conducted an open house in Blackfoot. The facility is at 280 Cedar St. in Blackfoot.
The company has been in business 35 years. It helps disabled individuals, be they socially, mentally or physically challenged.
On Monday, guests were invited to tour the facility.
In the production part of the business, hoods are contracted to be made for a number of companies or entities.
With a resounding "ARRRGHH" and a theme of "Books Ahoy," students at Stoddard Elementary School in Blackfoot kicked off their third annual reading challenge Friday as part of the Idaho Reads! VISTA [Volunteers In Service To America] program.
Annie Tanner, Idaho Reads! VISTA representative for Stoddard, said the whole purpose of the program is to promote family literacy and encourage parent involvement in the school.
Verla Evelyn Nelson, 77, of Shelley passed away October 23, 2012 at Eastern Idaho Regional Medical Center in Idaho Falls.
She was born May 3, 1935 in Blackfoot, Idaho to Lloyd Sheppard and Vilo Plant. She grew up Blackfoot where she attended school and graduated from Blackfoot High School. She married Wilford Neil Staples August 21, 1954 and their marriage was solemnized May 24, 1965 in the Idaho Falls Temple. He passed away December 13, 1981. She married Raymond Nelson February 28, 1983, He passed away February 24, 1991.
Ronald M. Jensen, 82 of Basalt passed away October 23, 2012 at EIRMC in Idaho Falls, Idaho surrounded by his loving family.
Ronald was born September 23, 1930 in Basalt, Idaho to Mary Ellen Singleton Jensen and Rulon M Jensen. His father passed away in 1930. Ronald went to grade school in Basalt and was valedictorian of the 8th grade. Ronald graduated from Firth High School where he played football, basketball, and softball, as well as being involved in the Ag program.
Christine J. Cooper Cahall, 46, Moore, ID. resident, died Thursday, Oct. 18, 2012, in Salt Lake City, Utah, following a sudden illness.
She was born Aug. 9, 1966, in Blackfoot, the daughter of Leslie Cooper and Beatrice Pratt Cooper.
Her early years were lived in Blackfoot where she attended schools and graduated from Blackfoot High School.
She was married to Jeff Hawkes in Blackfoot and to this union was born a son Josh.Â They were later divorced.Â She was later married Andrew Cahall in 1995 in Moore.Â They have lived in Arco/Moore the past decade.
Â Ruth Arleen Howell Barclay, 84, of Blackfoot, passed away on Saturday, Oct. 20,
2012 at Bingham Skilled Nursing and Rehab Center.
Ruth was born July 31, 1928 in West Yellowstone, Mont., to James Verl Howell and Vida Laveena Ward.Â Â She spent her youth in Pocatello, attending Washington Elementary School and graduating from Pocatello High School.
She met her husband at a dance at the Deleta Skating Rink in Pocatello and married Michael Barclay on Jan. 17, 1952 in the Idaho Falls LDS Temple.
Michael Lee Hunter, 64, went to be with his Heavenly Father on Oct. 15, 2012, in his Middleton home.
Mike was born on Nov. 29, 1947, in Rexburg. He lived with his parents, Versal and Donna Hunter in Firth and was soon big brother to five siblings.
He served in Vietnam in 1966.
He married Shawna Moon in 1968 and together they had two children, Michelle Lee and Michael Todd, the family lived in St. Anthony.
Natalia Moncada Bingo peacefully passed away at St. Luke's Hospital on Oct. 16, 2012 surrounded by her daughter Julie, grandson Alex, friends Brandy, Christine, Reggie, Tom and Chaplain LouRae while we said a prayer and sang Holy, Holy. The staff at St. Lukeâ€™s did all they could and where very kind and comforting to my mom and family.Â Â Â
