Last November, 99 individuals pulled on their gloves, hats, and other thermal wear and struck out into the cold, wind, and sleet at the inaugural Blackfoot Tater Trot Run and Walk. Covering distances of 5 or 10 kilometers, they traversed a portion of the Greenbelt from Veterans' Park, to Jensen Grove, and north to Rose Road. On their return, they were greeted by the smiling faces of volunteers from Community Dinner Table who served up hot, steaming baked potatoes and warm drinks.
A delicious meal of homemade taco soup and cornbread with honey warmed the hearts and the bellies of at least 300 people at the first Community Dinner Table (CDT) dinner of the season at Jason Lee Memorial Church in Blackfoot Tuesday.
The dinner was prepared and served by volunteers from Blackfoot South Stake.
Blackfoot South Stake received a big round of applause when CDT board member Lee Hammett announced that "this is the most people served at the first meal of the season in years."
