October 23rd
BLACKFOOT — What was once a giant patch of weeds outside the Blackfoot Animal Shelter has been transformed into a well manicured green lawn with a manmade brook leading into a scenic pond.
Nearly two months in the works, the landscaping project was a joint effort between Premier Technology and the City of Blackfoot. Christi Kotter, a controller at Premier Technology who helped on the project, said, "Doug Sayer [Premier Technology president] was working on his own property here and saw a need to help the neighbor [Blackfoot Animal Clinic] next door."
BLACKFOOT—All the little ghouls, witches, and goblins are welcome to come and capture their costumes on camera at the Photography Boo-tique as part of the annual Halloween Charity and open house. Harmony Jones has put together the event for the last three years.
"My passion is my work; it builds my soul." said Jones of her business, "I feel so honored when a new client books a session with me, and when I hand them their family wall portrait, or their senior album."
October 22nd
Monday was law and motion day in the Seventh District Judge Darren Simpson's courtroom in Blackfoot.
Defendant Lawrence James Crow, age 25, was to appear before Simpson with a Rule 35 request.
Rule 35 is used by defendants to request a correction or reduction of a sentence.
Crow was transported to Idaho Department of Correction in Boise and was unable to attend his hearing on Monday.
Crow's hearing was continued to 1:30 p.m. on Friday, Nov. 2, when he will be able to attend his hearing.
Let there be light...and more light...along Blackfoot's greenbelt. Blackfoot Mayor Mike Virtue announced Monday that the 15-foot solar-powered Bollard lights that were ordered to be installed along the Jensen Grove greenbelt are here and will be installed to the light way for walkers by the end of next week.
"City workers have poured the foundations for installation of 18 of the lights at various locations around the loop," Virtue said.
Michael Lee Hunter, 64, went to be with his Heavenly Father on Oct. 15, 2012, in his Middleton home.
Mike was born on Nov. 29, 1947, in Rexburg. He lived with his parents, Versal and Donna Hunter in Firth and was soon big brother to five siblings.
He served in Vietnam in 1966.
He married Shawna Moon in 1968 and together they had two children, Michelle Lee and Michael Todd, the family lived in St. Anthony.
Natalia Moncada Bingo peacefully passed away at St. Luke's Hospital on Oct. 16, 2012 surrounded by her daughter Julie, grandson Alex, friends Brandy, Christine, Reggie, Tom and Chaplain LouRae while we said a prayer and sang Holy, Holy. The staff at St. Luke’s did all they could and where very kind and comforting to my mom and family.  Â

Employees, friends and members of the community gathered at the "Stinkin' Cute Scrapbook Shop & Boutique" for a ribbon-cutting to celebrate the new business Friday afternoon.
It's a startling statistic that one in six Americans does not have enough access to food. Idaho-based- Alliance Title Co. is making a company-wide effort to make a difference with its "Closing the Hunger Gap" campaign, and Blackfoot's branch is more than happy to help out.
Ron Romrell, vice president and general manager of the local office, said, "As a company, we see a dramatic need to supply food to the food banks and help keep people fed."
Scouts throughout Southeastern Idaho and Western Wyoming were out in force Saturday picking up canned goods and non-perishable food items in their communities. The food items were contributed to local food banks for distribution.
The Grand Teton Council of the Boy Scouts of America (BSA) kicked off its annual "Scouting for Food" drive with distribution of the door hangers to local residences starting the week of Oct. 15. Food collection started at 9 a.m. last Saturday.
Scouting For Food involves several hundred young men (Scouts) in every community.
