Ellis Royce Jackman, 79

November 26, 2012

Ellis Royce Jackman, 79, of Blackfoot, passed away on Saturday, Nov. 24, 2012 at his home.
 Royce was born Nov. 12, 1933 in Blackfoot to Ellis F. Jackman and Margaret Stewart.  He graduated from Blackfoot High School.  The following day he enlisted in the U. S. Navy.
 One year later on July 8, 1953, Royce was sealed for time and all eternity to his high school sweetheart LaRaine Anderson in the Idaho Falls LDS Temple.

Violet Melinda Chapman, 80

Violet Melinda Chapman, 80, of Blackfoot passed away Saturday, Nov.24, 2012 at Bingham Memorial Hospital in Blackfoot.
 Violet was born Jan. 30, 1932 in Hurricane Valley, Ariz., to Duncan Gunderson Marchant and Sadie Higley.  She attended grade school in Roosevelt, Utah, and high school in Rainier, Ore.
 On Nov.13, 1957 Violet married Roy H. Kimmel in Stevenson, Wash.  They were later sealed on Aug. 23, 1968 in the Idaho Falls LDS Temple.  Roy preceded her in death on Feb. 17, 2009.  On June 12, 2009 she married Don Chapman in Blackfoot.

Parcel Express offers savings on shipping

If customers bring in a can of food, Parcel Express is offering $2 off on any package of five pounds or more that can be shipped UPS or FEDEX.
The canned food will be donated the Southeastern Idaho Community Action Agency (SEICAA).
Bring in your package, the $2 off coupon and a can of food.
The coupon can be found in Home Direct that is published by the Morning News. It was mailed to homes on Nov. 16 and 17.
The coupon expires on Thursday, Dec. 20.
"Our food bank can use any donations," said SEICAA director Bobette Beesley. "Every year it gets more and more interesting.

Winklers gives back to community with Christmas project

After nearly 40 years in business, Winkler TV Satellite is giving back to the community by gathering coats, blankets, toys and non-perishable food items for Bingham County's SEICCA and 'Children's Community Christmas Project.'
"This is something I've wanted to do for a long time," said owner Esther Winkler, who has worked alongside her husband, Carl, since they started the business as a TV repair shop inside Blackfoot Appliance in 1976.

Christmas Tree Fantasy opens with tea tonight

The 34th annual Bingham Christmas Tree Fantasy opens this evening with a tea at 5 o'clock in the Needlecraft Building on the grounds of the Eastern Idaho State Fair.
A sweet shoppe, cafe and boutique are open come Wednesday at 10 a.m.
The Fantasy is open from 10 a.m. to 8 p.m. Wednesday through Friday and from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. on Saturday.
Hours for the Fantasy Cafe are from 11 a.m. to 7 p.m. A reasonably priced lunch special is offered each day.
The entrance fee to the Fantasy is $2 per person or $10 for the immediate family.
