BLACKFOOT – In what proved to be a heavyweight slugfest the Blackfoot Broncos prevailed on Friday evening as they overcame a key injury by leaning on their vaunted rushing attack for a 30-20 victory over the Knights of Bishop Kelly in the Class 4A state playoffs.
POCATELLO – The Shelley Russets converted a fourth-and-17 for their first score of the game on Friday night. Conversely the Snake River Panthers came up six inches short on a fourth-and-goal from the three on the ensuing possession. Those two series were a microcosm of a game in which the Russets capitalized on nearly all of their opportunities while the Panthers came up short. Shelley knocked off the defending Class 3A state champions, 41-14.

Seven-year-old Rozzlyn Cazier may not look like a hero, but she has a plaque from the Shelley Fire Department that declares that she is.
Fire Chief Mike Carter presented the plaque and gift certificates from Red Robin and Kiwi Loco to Rozzlyn in front of her schoolmates at Sunrise Elementary on Friday.
On Oct. 8 of this year, Amber Cazier and Rozzlyn were in an arena near Shelley. Amber, a horse trainer, was inside when a horse kicked her in the face. Amber suffered serious skull fractures.
