BLACKFOOT â€” A great turnout in precincts throughout Bingham County slowed down the vote count Tuesday night.
"There was an enormous turnout," said Bingham County Clerk Sara Staub. "We're pleased with it.
"We're sorry some people had to wait at the polls."
Bingham County Election Director Marlene Jensen said the count delay could be attributed to the two-page ballot, the write-in for county commissioner and the vast amount of people who came out to vote.
BLACKFOOT â€” Based upon early returns, Bingham County voters re-elected Idaho State Senator Steve Bair by slightly over a 2-1 margin.
With just five of 31 precincts counted at midnight, Bair had 68 percent of the vote while challenger Cherie Harding Clawson had 32 percent.
Neil Anderson and and Julie Van Orden were poised to win seats in the Idaho House of Representatives. Anderson had a 76-24 percent lead over Barbara Ann Clark while Van Orden led Jeannie m. James 79-21 percent.
BLACKFOOT â€” This was the first time Bingham County has early pick up in selected precincts.

Close to 6,000 ballots have already been received at the courthouse. This year, Bingham County received 21 percent of the registered ballots were received by absentee ballot be the absentee ballots delivered in person, mailed-in and homebound.
