Russets push through for 3-2 win over Trojans

SHELLEY — The Shelley Russets rallied for three runs in the bottom of the sixth inning as they evened the season series with the Rigby Trojans with a 3-2 High Country Conference victory at Shelley High School on Wednesday afternoon.
"I'm very happy with the win and very happy with the way that the team came back from yesterday and did the things that we talked about," Shelley head coach Yence Mora said. "We've talked about three things. Get on base, get the base runner over and then get the base runner home and we did that today which was the key."

Blackfoot tennis blanks Poky 12-0

BLACKFOOT — A day removed from a hard fought loss to conference rival Hillcrest, the Blackfoot tennis team took to the home courts looking to exact a little vengeance on the Pocatello Indians.
At the end of the day Blackfoot accomplished the mission on all fronts as they swept the Indians 12-0.

Local woman competes in national mobility contest

Stephanie Palmer, a young mother of two, had her life turned upside down when she suddenly became paralyzed. Palmer is now reaching out to the community after she entered a national contest to win a wheelchair-accessible vehicle.

Candidates meet-and-greet with Chamber members

Nineteen candidates for five county and state officers introduced themselves to the members of the Blackfoot Chamber of Commerce on Wednesday.
They are running for sheriff, the state House of Representatives, county prosecutor and two county commission seats.
Each had two minutes to briefly explain their reason for seeking their office. All are Republicans whose numbers will be winnowed in the primary election on May 15.

Registration for Cattle Kids to begin

Registration for Cattle Kids is open. Contact the Extension office in Blackfoot at 785-8060 to sign up.
"Cattle Kids gives city kids an opportunity to raise cattle," said organizer Neil Anderson. "Kids have an opportunity to be in the cattle business.
"The program builds character and helps develop responsibility," said Anderson. "They make money in the process.
Cattle Kids is for kids ages 8 through 15, inclusive. This is the fourth year for this program.

Legacy Dance Studio remodels for Zumba-

BLACKFOOT —The smell of fresh paint and the sound of hammers accost the senses when you are undergoing a remodel.
Bright red, purple and green walls replace the once stark white canvases. A large stage has been placed for the instructors to show their Zumba moves to their class. Lacy Grover, owner of Legacy Dance Studio, is thrilled to be back from maternity leave to re-join her clients for the Zumba classes.
Grover said she feels that Zumba had become such an important part of what they are doing that they wanted to design the remodel specifically for those classes.

Lady Broncos pick up two against Lady Russets

SHELLEY — Bingham County foes collided on Tuesday afternoon as the Shelley Russets welcomed the Blackfoot Broncos to town for a High Country Conference double header on the softball diamond.
At the end of a warm and balmy day, the Broncos emerged victorious as they swept the double dip 6-4 and 15-2.
