Blackfoot's superintendent of schools announces retirement

Quoting Mark Twain and "the great philosopher Garth Brooks," Scott Crane announced his retirement as superintendent of schools at a meeting of the Blackfoot School District No. 55 board of trustees on Tuesday.
Crane has been superintendent of schools since 2007. He was assistant superintendent for 10 years before that. He has worked in the school district for 26 years.

BRIGHAM CITY, Utah — Our loving wife, mother, daughter, grandmother, sister, aunt and friend, Charlotte Westover, 56, passed away on Saturday, April 21, 2012, at Ogden Regional Medical Center from cardiac arrest.
She was born on March 21, 1956 in St. Anthony, Idaho, a daughter of Glen Leonard and Genece Haws Brown.
Charlotte graduated from Snake River High School in Blackfoot.
 She married her sweetheart, Robert S. Westover on June 16, 2006 in Blackfoot. Their marriage was later solemnized in the Idaho Falls LDS Temple on June 16, 2007.

Sharon Wellman, 72

Sharon Wellman, 72
 Our precious mother, grandmother and sister, Sharon May Gordon Wellman, 72, of Idaho Falls passed away April 21, 2012, at her home of natural causes.
Sharon was born Oct. 6, 1939, in Wapello to D. A. Gordon and Laura May Van Orden Gordon.  She attended Groveland Elementary School and graduated from Blackfoot High School.  She also earned her associate's degree in bookkeeping from Idaho State University.

Blackfoot Police investigating home invasion robbery

Blackfoot Police Department did not reveal a lot of information about the home invasion/robbery that took place about 11:30 p.m. on Saturday, April 21.
"We are being very careful what information we are releasing," said Blackfoot Police Capt. Kurt Asmus. "There is certain information that only the victims, police and suspect would know."
The burglary was on Fullmer Lane.
The suspect made contact with the family as they returned home, the police report stated. The couple and their pre-school children were ordered into a room at gunpoint and the suspect demanded money.

At the Bingham Crisis Center there is a wall filled with photos, coined "The wall of shame" by the Center staff. It features grim faces of those found guilty of sexual and domestic abuse stare unkindly from unblinking eyes. There are far too many faces than necessary for Bingham County and a stark reminder that Idaho is not exempt from the chilling statistics.
