Woman rescues victim of animal cruelty

Leslie Schwindt of Rockford has a severe case of "puppy love" when it comes to her newly adopted puppy-affectionately named 'Angel.' However, it doesn't mask her anger over the fact she found Angel in a hayfield in Rockford last week, shot up to five times with a 22-caliber long rifle.

Bingham County inmates get video visitation system

Bingham County inmates will soon be able to visually communicate with family and friends through a new video visitation system.
"We are so excited about this new video equipment," said Sheriff Dave Johnson. "Not only is it great for the inmates to be able to communicate face-to-face with their families, but it will help greatly with security issues and save time; no more moving the inmates back and forth to make calls."

Fire fighters pay off reading challenge

The second annual Fireman's Reading Challenge caught fire this year with almost all of Blackfoot School District participating along with several from Snake River School District. The total of reading minutes tallied up to nearly 5 million. The firefighters started the contest last year in an effort to engage local students in reading.
Winning this years contest was Ridgecrest Elementary with a total of 1,563,671 minutes read by 430 students. This was 500,000 minutes more than the next closest school.

CANADIAN FRAUD: April 26, 4:25 p.m.: A man said he had been working with a Canadian company that has been ordering potatoes and then once the potatoes have been sent the company puts a stop payment on the checks they wrote for the potatoes.

Blackfoot Police

ATTEMPTED VEHICLE BREAK-IN: April 27, 3:28 p.m.: A caller said two juveniles are attempting for force their way into vehicles near the tennis courts.

Candidates Speak- Forum for those running for House, Prosecutor

BLACKFOOT — Jean Nilsson has attended several candidate forums, including Thursday's event which the Blackfoot Association of Realtors sponsored.
"I came here to become better-informed so I can make a better decision when I vote," Nilsson said.
Shane Gifford, a realtor, added, "I came to here what the people say and feel what their passion is.
"They gave us some good information," Gifford added.
Speakers were the four candidates for state House of Representatives Seats A and B and for Bingham County Prosecuting Attorney in Tuesday's Republican primary election.

BLACKFOOT—There was something 'fishy' going on at Wapello Elementary school Thursday afternoon...literally! It was 'Celebrate Fish Day' and fourth graders were enjoying quite the conglomerate of activities: Dutch oven cooking, t-shirt painting, churning homemade butter and dissecting fish!
Fourth grade teacher Amy Wren said that 'Celebrate Fish Day' is a fun day that she has made into annual event to help make up for the lack of field trips because of budget cuts.

David 'Dave' Adams, 61

David Randall “Dave” Adams, 61, of Blackfoot passed away Thursday, May 10, 2012 at his home following a valiant battle with cancer.
He was born Dec. 1, 1950 in Wendell to William David and Imogene Cannon Adams.  Dave was raised in Wendell and has also lived in Idaho Falls, Boise and Blackfoot. He spent 37 years in Groveland surrounded by friends and family.
On March 8, 1974 Dave married Dorine Munk in the Logan, Utah LDS Temple.
