Fort Hall to celebrate Treaty Days

Those eager to see some great fireworks (and even light some of their own) can do so in a safe and controlled environment tonight starting at dusk at the Fort Hall rodeo grounds. The firework show is in celebration of Shoshone-Bannock 'Treaty Day' and Independence Day.
According to Randy 'L Teton, public affairs manager for the Sho-Ban Tribes, 'Treaty Day' is in recognition of a peace treaty signed on July 3, 1868 in Fort Bridger (which at that time was in Utah Territory) between the Shoshone and Bannock Indian tribes and the United States government.

ERWIN HENRY LASS, 97

Erwin Henry Lass, 97, passed away at his Blackfoot home on July 1, 2012, surrounded by his loving wife and children.
Erwin was born on Oct. 26, 1914 in Emerson, Neb., the third child of Ernest Heinrich and Dorothy Margaret Dohrman Lass.  Erwin served in the Army Air Corps during World War II, spending much of his service time in Honolulu, Hawaii, at Hickam Field near Pearl Harbor.

JUANITA ANDREWS AINSWORTH, 89

Juanita “Nita” Andrews Ainsworth, 89, of Blackfootpassed away on Friday, June 29, 2012, at Bingham Memorial Hospital.
Nita was born on June 18, 1923, in Salt Lake City, Utah, to Gus and Mary Napier Morgan.  She was raised in the Salt Lake area and attended West High School. 
Nita married Warren “Gabby” James Ainsworth on Sept. 20, 1941, in Salt Lake City.  Together they raised two children, Craig and Peggy. 

Ida Maria Koski Butler

Ida Maria Koski Butler passed away in the morning on the June 29, 2012, at the family home in Woodville, Idaho.

Connie Chadbourne, 74

July 2, 2012

Connie Chadbourne, 74, of American Falls, passed away at her home on Saturday, June 16, 2012.
She was born Dec. 18, 1937 to Elmer and Ella Richardson in American Falls. She married Amos Alcorn July7, 1954 and they made their home in Chicago, IL, until 1977, when they moved back to American Falls. They had two children, Edna Fay Alcorn (3/5/1955- 1/28/1962) and Elmer Edward Acorn.
Amos Alcorn passed away on Dec. 29, 1982. Connie later married Elwood Charles "Chuck" Chadbourne on Aug.14, 1983. Chuck Chadbourne passed away on Nov. 12, 2007.

Equifest wraps up with close trainers' finale

The first Intermountain Equifest at the Eastern Idaho State Fairgrounds concluded Sunday evening.
The Equifest featured horses, trainers, vendors and concessionaires. Trainers came from Colorado, California and Coeur d'Alene.
Trainer Aaron Ralston from Silt, Colo., demonstrated bridleless horsemanship. He worked with a 4-year-old Appaloosa stallion named Chief who had been ridden 20 times.

One man dies in rollover

FORT HALL — One man is dead following a one-car rollover near Fort Hall about 1:10 a.m. Saturday.
Cullen Fights Over, 19, of Fort Hall died at Portneuf Medical Center in Pocatello of injuries he suffered in the rollover, according to an Idaho State Police report.
Fights Over and Danae Jimmie, 19, of Blackfoot were passengers in a 1999 pickup which Kendall Perry, 21, of Blackfoot was driving on Philbin Road when Perry lost control and went off the road. The vehicle rolled into a field.
Jimmie and Fights Over were taken to area hospitals for treatment.
