Alice Tucker, 83

August 29, 2012

Alice Tucker, 83, passed away peacefully at the Bingham Memorial Care Center in Blackfoot, Tuesday, Aug. 21, 2012.
Alice was born on Sept. 12, 1928, to Harold and Ethel Peterson. She married Grady Cannon and they had three sons. They later divorced. She then married Vernon D. Tucker on Nov. 12, 1955, and they had three children.
She loved her family and enjoyed playing Bingo and painting.

Grizz top Broncos 3-0

BLACKFOOT — The Blackfoot Bronco volleyball squad opened their home portion of the 2012 schedule on Tuesday evening as they welcomed 5A Skyline to town for a non-conference tilt on the hardwood.
The Broncos and Grizz battled into extra points in the first game before the Grizz emerged triumphant with a 27-25 victory and then cruised home from their by sweeping the Broncos in three games with 25-15 and 15-13 tallies in the second and third games.

Lipovac survives recall vote

BLACKFOOT – Blackfoot School District trustee Peter Lipovac retained his position as Zone 1 trustee. Electors voted to retain him by a count of 101 for the recall; 180 against it.
By precinct, vote totals are:
Blackfoot precinct 4 (Stalker Elementary)—for the recall 52 votes; against the recall 13 votes.
Blackfoot Precinct 6 (Blackfoot Performing Arts Center)—for the recall 3 votes; against the recall 3 votes.  
Fort Hall 20 (Fort Hall Elementary)—for the recall 28 votes; against the recall 135 votes.
Absentee votes—18 votes for the recall; 29 votes against it.

Carma Allene Mikesell Jensen Sorensen Taylor, 92

Carma Allene Mikesell Jensen Sorensen Taylor, 92, of Blackfoot passed away Thursday, Aug. 23, 2012, at her son Jon’s home in Richmond, Utah.
She was born March 4, 1920, in Victor to Franklin Alva Mikesell and Juliette Allen Mikesell.
Carma and her family grew up in Victor. She also lived in many parts of Idaho including; Springfield, Rexburg, Blackfoot,  Pocatello, and most recently she has lived in Richmond, Utah.
She married Harry Jensen July 5, 1938, and had four children, Marilyn, Karen, Pat, and Jon. She later married Merle Sorensen in 1979 and Gail Taylor in 2002.

Anna Catherine Tauscher, 84

Anna Catherine Tauscher, 84, wife, mother, grandmother and great grandmother left this earth on Saturday, Aug. 25, 2012.
Anna was born in Miltown, South Dakota, on Nov. 28, 1928, to John Antone Behrend and Katherine Pauline (Schlimgen) Behrend.  Anna’s family moved to Blackfoot on Labor Day of 1936.  Anna attended St. Margaret’s Grade School and graduated from Blackfoot High School.

Beulah Trebilcock, 93

Beulah Trebilcock, 93, of Blackfoot passed away Friday, Aug. 24, 2012, at The Willows in Blackfoot.
Our beloved mother and grandmother was born in Wagoner, Okla., Aug. 11, 1919. She was the fourth child born to George D. and Adolpha Standlee Martin. She was reared and educated in Tulsa, Okla. 
Upon graduation from Tulsa Central High School she attended Tulsa Secretarial School. She wrote for the advertising and society department of the “Tulsa Tribune” and then the “Tulsa World.”

Carol Inez Vogler, 63

Carol Inez Vogler, 63, of Blackfoot passed away Thursday, Aug. 23, 2012, at her home from cancer.
She was born Sept. 25, 1948, in Santa Cruz, California to Renaldo J. Egbert and Yvonne Hale Egbert.
Carol and her family lived in Santa Cruz, Calif., until she was through the sixth grade at which time the family moved to Oakley, Idaho. She graduated from Oakley High School in 1966.

Spencer J. Nilsson, 13

Spencer J. Nilsson of Sterling returned to his Heavenly Father Aug. 25, 2012.
Spencer was born on Aug. 28, 1998 to his parents Ron and Yolanda Nilsson.
Spencer is the little brother to Lacie, Trevor, Riley and Suzanne. During his stay on this earth Spencer had many talents. He enjoyed snowboarding, hunting and riding his motorcycle. He also enjoyed playing his guitar and was very proud when he could play the song “Smoke On Water” by Deep Purple which was taught to him by his father.

Gary Grant Hames, 64

Gary Grant Hames, 64, of Mackay passed away Tuesday, Aug. 21, 2012, at his home following a battle with cancer.  His final days were spent surrounded by family.
Gary was born Dec. 13, 1947, in Phoenix, Ariz., to Vernon and Luella (Porritt) Hames.  Gary, the seventh of 10 kids, was a rambunctious boy who maintained his spitfire attitude throughout his adult life.  Gary’s childhood and the family’s travels provided many great memories that he loved to reminisce about and share.  His greatest friends throughout his life were always his siblings and their spouses.

Taxes decrease in 2013 Bingham County budget

The 2013 budget for Bingham County is lower than the 2012 version and the levy is also lower. In the upcoming budget, taxpayers will pay $15.53 less per $100,000 taxable value.
Taxable values in the county have increased.
"Levies are down because [taxable] values went up," said Bingham County Clerk Sara Staub.
Bingham County Commissioners unanimously approved the 2013 budget.
There is a $35,943 decrease in the 2013 budget. In 2012, the budget totaled $27,250,512. Next year's budget totals $27,214,469.
