Each year, Snake River schools have ranked lower on each list. It doesn't matter the school—high school, junior high, middle school or elementary.

With the help of Mother Nature and lots of tender loving care from the gardeners, it has been an excellent growing season for Blackfoot's Community Garden. Gardeners are enjoying a bountiful harvest of home grown fruits, vegetables and herbs with plenty of pumpkins still to come this fall.
Garden coordinator Jon Lyksett said the Community Garden was formed two years ago as a recreational avenue for those who don't have space to plant and tend a garden and an opportunity to help those who need to feed their families become self-reliant by learning to plant and grow a garden.

BLACKFOOT — Virginia Townsend has a few secrets.
The Stalker Elementary first grade teacher's 'bet you didn't know' is, "few people know I was born in the back seat of a taxi."
They probably don't know she comes from a family of nine siblings who were born all over the Western United States.
With that kind of a start in life, it's not a surprise that she likes to travel.
"My goal is to visit all the United States," she said. "I only have six more to go (last time I counted)."
