Representatives of Bingham Memorial Hospital presented Bingham County Commissioner Cleone Jolley with a check in the amount of $356,628.33 on Friday. It is the latest payment made as a result of an agreement signed in 2007 when the hospital converted from a county-owned and operated facility to a non-profit, 501(c)3 private entity.
The payment amount comes from three funds:
Â° the annual lease payment for the liquid asset transfer,
Â° reimbursement for indigent care provided by the county to area residents and
Students and staff at Fort Hall Elementary School are enjoying bright colors and more of nature's beauty on the grounds of their school with the completion of a landscaping project made possible by a $5,000 grant from Lowe's
Fifth grade teacher Garth Carlson applied for the Lowe's Toolbox for Education grant last year in hopes of getting the money "to help make the world a nicer place for the students." He was thrilled to receive the funds in time to get much of the landscaping done throughout the summer before school started.
â€śI got into education so I could have the same impact on students that certain teachers and coaches had on me,â€ť said Thomas.
Â [When this opportunity came up], â€śI was ready for a change,â€ť he said. â€śI wanted to have more of an impact on education than I had in my own classroom.
Thomas grew up in Blackfoot, graduated from Blackfoot High in 1990 and then taught in American Falls.
â€śAs I looked over the river, I was always a bit envious of Snake River,â€ť he said.
