BLACKFOOT — There is a dark cloud of sadness hanging over Blackfoot and throughout the region this week, as funeral preparations are made for three Blackfoot residents (Jackie Poulson, 31, Lance Hicks, 41, and Keith Tarpley) who entered into an electrically charged canal and were electrocuted Thursday night in the Groveland area.
And while residents are out enjoying the Eastern Idaho State Fair and other end-of-the-summer activities, the tragedy is weighing heavily on the hearts and minds of everyone in the community.

BLACKFOOT — It had been fifty weeks since Blackfoot senior quarterback Alonzo Ramos had stepped foot on a football field following his gruesome knee injury in week three of last years state championship season.
On Friday night, Ramos showed no signs of rust as he accounted for 329 yards of total offense and five Blackfoot touchdowns in a 46-7 season opening drubbing of Skyline.
"All the stress built up over this past year, I just had to get it out," Ramos said. "Tonight, I felt like I had never been hurt. I still need to improve but it was just a great game."
