Martha Marlene â€śMollyâ€ť Caldwell, 81, of Blackfoot passed away peacefully in her sleep on Thursday, Feb. 23, 2012 in Blackfoot.
Molly was born April 9, 1930 in Idaho Falls to David John and Martha Surilda Elliott. She grew up in the Lincoln area and graduated from Ammon High School in 1948.
James â€śJimâ€ť Carl Knudsen, 65, of Hayden Lake passed away Sunday, Feb. 19, 2012 at Kootenai Medical Center in Coeur dâ€™Alene.
Jim was born July 27, 1946 in Chico, Calif., to Carl Einar Knudsen and Catherine Lawrence.Â He attended school in California, graduating from high school in Santa Rosa, Calif.Â
A local attorney made Inquiry on behalf of a client in the Bingham County clerk's office about the process of recalling a school trustee in the Blackfoot School District on Thursday.
This recall inquiry was made regarding school trustee Peter Lipovac who represents Zone 1. Lipovac was elected and took office in 2009. His term ends in 2013.
As of 2011, the county handles all elections.
According to Idaho Code 34-1702, the [recall] petition shall be filed with the county clerk of the county wherein the district is located.
Steven Moldenhauer has found a unique way to raise awareness about heart disease. As part of his "Thumbs Up for Women's Heart Health Month" campaign, Moldenhauer is painting people's thumbnails aorta red. Moldenhauer is conducting this campaign in support of his sister, Brady Meline, who suffers from microvascular disfunction and Prinzmetal spasms.
Moldenhauer said he started to get the idea for the "Thumbs Up" campaign earlier this week as he watched Meline paint her thumbnails red.
The quarter horse, BCR Buds For All, won the Portland Meadows quarter horse race Monday. This 5-year-old American Quarter Horse is owned by Jeff Steadman of Blackfoot.
"You have a 10 percent chance of winning because there are 10 horses running," Steadman said.
Steadman bought Buddy as a weinlingâ€”a 5-month-old coltâ€”from Billingsley Creek Ranch.
Buddy was bred for running, Steadman said. Buddy is now 5 years old. Monday's race was Buddy's 26th. He has won seven starts.
BLACKFOOT â€” Some community leaders gathered at Tommy Vaughn's Grill Thursday morning to learn where money donated through the Friends of Scouting goes.
They learned that the $1,020,000 raised in the Grand Teton Council helped fund the activities of over 21,000 Scouts and 11,000 leaders in the local Boy Scouts of America units.
"You make a large difference in the lives of boys," noted Council president Jeff Wheeler.
BLACKFOOT â€” Members of the Blackfoot School District board of trustees heard a report about the feasibility of consolidating the Blackfoot Sixth Grade School with Mountain View Middle School during Thursday's monthly meeting.
"Do we continue in the way we do business or be progressive in our thoughts," Deidre Taylor asked as she introduced the committee's report on the subject.
She said the possible move has two componentsâ€”academic and financial.

Arthur John Judge, 61, of Blackfoot passed away Feb. 8, 2012 at his home in Blackfoot.
Arthur was born March 4, 1950 in Waltham, Massachusetts, to William Ernest Judge and Mary Veronica Damoiseau. He attended school at Waltham High School and furthered his education at Suffolk University in Boston. He lived in Japan, San Diego, Phoenix, Idaho Falls and Blackfoot.
Arthur served his country in the United States Marine Corps.
On July 31, 1976 Arthur married Sharon Ann Midkiff. Together they had three children, Charles, Timothy and Rebecca. They were later divorced.
Ralph Elwood Hulse, 75, of Blackfoot passed away, Tuesday, Feb. 21, 2012 at Bingham County Skilled Nursing and Rehab in Blackfoot.
A funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. Monday, Feb. 27, 2012 at Hawker Funeral Home, 132 S. Shilling Ave., Blackfoot.
The family will meet with friends on Sunday from 6-8 p.m. and for one hour prior to the service at the funeral home.
Interment will be in the Shelley Hillcrest Cemetery.
