Blackfoot Police

BATTERY: Jan. 15, 4:32 p.m.: A caller said a female was just punched in the face by a male in the parking lot at Chevron.

SCARY SQUIRREL: Jan. 15, 11:23 p.m.: A woman said she believes there is a squirrel under her couch and she is afraid of it.

ATTEMPTED RAPE: Jan. 16, 1:48 p.m.: A woman said a man tried to have sex with her against her will this morning. She said the man began getting "fresh" with her and began taking her shirt off and broke her bra. She said she hit the man and ran out of the residence.

Joshua Richard Herrman, 32

Joshua Richard Herrman, 32, of Blackfoot passed away Thursday, Jan. 24, 2013.
 Josh was born Jan. 12, 1981 in Pocatello, to Floyd Herrman and Peggy Ann Buzzard.  He attended grade school in Wapello and graduated from Firth High School.  After graduation he lived in Logan, Utah, for four years.
 On June 11, 2005 Joshua married Tashina Roundy in Firth.  Together they have three children, Koi Van (7 years), Kolter Byron (4 years) and Gracie Lane (2 years).

Don P Jones, 92

Don P Jones, a loving father, grandfather, husband and brother passed away peacefully on January 26, 2013 while returning from his son’s funeral.  He was born September 18, 1920 in Francis, Utah to Abram and George Anna Jones. He was very proud of his Welsh heritage.

Veon Wallentine Nate, 77

Obituary
Veon Wallentine Nate, 77, passed away Wednesday, January 23, 2013 while vacationing in San Diego, California. 
Veon was born in Lanark, Idaho on August 2, 1935, to Loraine Charles and Hazel Hymas Wallentine. She married Edward B. Sommers in 1953 in the Idaho Falls, Idaho, LDS Temple.  They were later divorced.  She married her eternal companion, Lynn Henry Nate, on August 1, 1963, in the Idaho Falls Temple. They spent the first few years of their marriage in Montpelier, Idaho and then moved to Blackfoot in 1968.

Cody (Corrine) Budd

Cody (Corrine) Budd passed away quietly Jan. 19, 2013, in Eugene, Ore.
Cody lived a full life. Five generations of family gathered together Nov. 5, 2012, to help celebrate her 100th birthday.
She was preceded in death by her husband of 72 years, Daniel Burr Budd, and two grandchildren, Bobbie Kate Budd and J Dimitre Nacheff.
She leaves behind a great legacy — three children, nine grandchildren, 16 great-grandchildren and five great-great-grandchildren.
Cody died as she lived, on her own terms. She will be greatly missed by her family and friends.

Lola R. Penoyer, 70

Lola R. Penoyer, 70, of Blackfoot passed away Saturday, Jan. 26, 2013 at Bingham Memorial Hospital in Blackfoot.
 Lola was born Dec. 17, 1942 to Andrew and Ruby Anderson.  She was a lifetime resident of Blackfoot and attended grade school in Pocatello, Jorman, Twin Falls and Richfield.
On Jan. 14, 1961 Lola married Robert Penoyer in Blackfoot. 
Lola was a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints.
She worked at TeePee Potato and later at Sunspiced.  In her free time she enjoyed puzzle books, reading, playing Bingo and spending time with her family and grandchildren.

Buster the Bus comes to town

BLACKFOOT — Bus drivers from throughout the region braved the wicked roads Monday morning to keep a date with "Buster the Bus."
"Busters" is a miniature, remote-controlled 3-foot tall, animated replica of a full-sized yellow school bus, equipped with a swing-out stop sign, a crossing gate and flashing red lights, just like a real school bus.

Woman sentenced for grand theft

Jolene Flores, age 58, was sentenced to the Idaho Department of Correction on Monday for one count of grand theft and one count of forgery.
On Nov. 1, 2011, Flores was accused of forging checks, taking money from her aunt's checking account. Her aunt is 87-year-old Desi Underwood. Flores was charged with one count of grand theft, one count of burglary and one count of forgery.
Flores pleaded guilty to the charges of grand theft and forgery on Nov, 26, 2012. The charge of burglary was dismissed on motion of the prosecutor.

Storm closes many county schools

Blackfoot School District 55 was one of the few districts in the county to keep schools open Monday morning after a cold front moved in Sunday night, bringing windy conditions and dumping several inches of snow throughout the region.
In Bingham County - Shelley, Firth, and Snake River school districts and Blackfoot Charter Community Learning Center all closed school because of hazardous road conditions and blowing and drifting snow.
