Firth rolls to victory over West Jeff

FIRTH — Last Friday night the Firth Cougars defense wanted to pitch the shutout against visiting Ririe.
But with a 59-0 lead in the fourth quarter head coach Keith Drake pulled his starters and put in his junior varsity players and Ririe was able to get a late touchdown.

Early voting begins Monday

Early voting will begin on Monday and will continue through to Nov. 1.
Early voting for all of the Bingham County elections will be at the Bingham County Courthouse. The hours for early voting will be from 8:30 a.m. to noon and 1-4:30 p.m., Monday through Friday.
Early voting will be for all elections that will be held in Bingham County on Nov. 5.
The cities of Aberdeen, Atomic City, Basalt, Blackfoot, Firth, and Shelley will be having elections. Also the Shelley/Firth Fire District, the North Bingham Library District, and the Groveland Cemetery will be holding elections.

Fundraiser held for local dairyman with lung disease

BLACKFOOT—A family who has given much to the community is now in need themselves as father/husband, Heath Young, has been hit with a lung disease and will need a lung transplant.
Young, a native of Blackfoot, grew up working on a dairy farm. He loved farming and has made a living through the years (for his wife Wendi and their five children) working on the family farm.
According to close family friend Tiffany Bartausky, in 2006 Young "began struggling with a persistent cough that wouldn't go away."

Fatal motorcycle crash near Fort Hall

FORT HALL — The Idaho State Police investigated a fatal motorcycle crash on Thursday night on U.S. Highway 91 near Fort Hall.
Vieto S. Appenay, 40, of Fort Hall, was traveling northbound on US91 on a 2006 Harley Davidson motorcycle when Shirley R. Boles, 69, of Pocatello, failed to yield on Border School Crossing. Boles was driving a 1999 Toyota Tacoma pickup.
Appenay was transported by ground ambulance to Portneuf Medical Center where he succumbed to his injuries.
The crash took place at 9:54 p.m. on Thursday at milepost 87 near the Shoshone-Bannock High School, south of Fort Hall.
