Fundraiser held for local dairyman with lung disease

BLACKFOOT—A family who has given much to the community is now in need themselves as father/husband, Heath Young, has been hit with a lung disease and will need a lung transplant.
Young, a native of Blackfoot, grew up working on a dairy farm. He loved farming and has made a living through the years (for his wife Wendi and their five children) working on the family farm.
According to close family friend Tiffany Bartausky, in 2006 Young "began struggling with a persistent cough that wouldn't go away."

Fatal motorcycle crash near Fort Hall

FORT HALL — The Idaho State Police investigated a fatal motorcycle crash on Thursday night on U.S. Highway 91 near Fort Hall.
Vieto S. Appenay, 40, of Fort Hall, was traveling northbound on US91 on a 2006 Harley Davidson motorcycle when Shirley R. Boles, 69, of Pocatello, failed to yield on Border School Crossing. Boles was driving a 1999 Toyota Tacoma pickup.
Appenay was transported by ground ambulance to Portneuf Medical Center where he succumbed to his injuries.
The crash took place at 9:54 p.m. on Thursday at milepost 87 near the Shoshone-Bannock High School, south of Fort Hall.

Vigils help spread awareness for domestic violence

BLACKFOOT – Community members from all over Bingham County and law enforcement took part in two candlelight vigils to stand with victims of domestic violence and to also bring public awareness to this issue.
The two vigils took place at Jensen Grove on Wednesday evening, and the Shelley City Park on Thursday evening.
T-shirts were displayed. One read, “Violence—a legacy children should never inherit.”

Injury crash near Fort Hall

October 4, 2013

The Idaho State Police are currently investigating a vehicle versus motorcycle crash on US Highway 91, near milepost 87, south of Fort Hall. The road is completely blocked at this time. Traffic is being detoured onto Edmo Road, around the scene. More information will be released when it becomes available.
