Lady Broncos looking to make a statement

BLACKFOOT — When first year head coach Alisha Yeates and her team talked prior to the 2013 season, the team set the goal to just improve over last season.
But when the season was all said and done the Lady Broncos had a little more success than anyone in District 5/6 was expecting.

Local coat drive best year yet

BLACKFOOT — No one in Bingham County should have to go without a warm coat this year thanks to the success of the 6th annual 'coat drive' spearheaded by Blackfoot's "Bingham County Chiropractic." Organizers wrapped up the coat drive on Tuesday calling it "the most successful one yet."
"This was a great coat drive, better than years past," said Cari Garrett, office manager of Bingham County Chiropractic. "More businesses participated this year and we've received hundreds of clean, gently used coats and jackets."

Panthers, Cougars reach district title games

AMERICAN FALLS — Over the past three years the Snake River High School volleyball team has established its dominance over the rest of the competition in the 3A Fifth District.
The Lady Panthers have been crowned district champions in each season earning the automatic state tournament berth that comes with it.
Tuesday at American Falls High School the Lady Panthers began their quest for a fourth consecutive district title with a straight set win over Bear Lake 25-17, 25-15, 25-8.

ISP finds 6 lbs of suspected marijuana

AMERICAN FALLS— On October 22nd at approximately 2:40pm, Idaho State Police conducted a traffic stop on a 2007 Chrysler Town and Country van, on Interstate 86 near milepost 29, near American Falls in Power County, Idaho.
The vehicle was traveling east and was stopped for a traffic violation. The driver was identified as 26 year old Michael Torgerson, from Leeds, North Dakota.
Pursuant to the traffic stop, 6 pounds of suspected marijuana was found and seized.

Fort Hall Police Department escapee found

FORT HALL— Fort Hall inmate Nathaniel Yabenay was captured by Bannock deputies on Vaughn street near a rest home in Pocatello on Oct 21 at 9:30 p.m..
Find out more information regarding the capture and collaboration of both departments in pursuing federal charges against Yabenay for his escape from lawful custody in tomorrow's paper.

Darlene Bitton Draper Poole, 90

Darlene Bitton Draper Poole was born May 5, 1923 in Riverside, ID and passed away in Bingham Memorial Hospital on October 18, 2013. She is the daughter of John W. Bitton and Althea Bingham Bitton. 
Darlene graduated from Moreland High School in 1941 where she had enjoyed participating in music and played basketball.

Donna Marie Hall, 46

Donna Marie Hall, 46, of Blackfoot, passed away Friday, October 18, 2013 at the Bingham Memorial Hospital.
Donna was born February 21, 1967 in Idaho Falls, Idaho, to Donn Austin and Maxine Jane Hunt Bate.  She was raised in the Osgood-Roberts area and attended school in Rigby.  Donna has lived in various places in Southeast Idaho and has resided in Blackfoot the last six years.
In 1987 she married Lewis Ehardt, they were later divorced.  On February 7, 1994 she married William Hall in Idaho Falls.

Barbara Cammack Anderson, 81

Barbara Desa Cammack Anderson, 81, of St. George, Utah and formerly of Blackfoot, passed away Monday, Oct. 14, 2013 at her home in St. George.
 She was born Nov. 15, 1931 in Sterling at the home of her parents,  Rulon Francis and Desa Jane Theobald Cammack.  She was a premature twin, weighing slightly less than two pounds.  Her twin brother, Rulon, passed away shortly after birth, but with her parents' devoted care,  Barbara survived and grew into a delightful little girl.

Johnny Dell Nugent, 70

Johnny Dell Nugent, 70, of Sterling, passed away Wednesday, Oct. 16, 2013 at his home.
He was born Nov. 19, 1942 in Sterling to Arnold Napoleon and Della Phillips Nugent.  Johnny was the 12th of 14 children.
During his childhood, Johnny attended schools in the Grandview/Springfield area.  He attended Aberdeen High School where he met his only love, Susan Joanne Anderson.  They were married Oct. 21, 1959 in Rigby. 

Elder Colt Daniel Kunz, 20

Elder Colt Daniel Kunz, 20, passed away Oct. 9, 2013 in Tampico, Mexico while serving a mission for The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints.
He was born on Aug. 11, 1993 in Rexburg and was the youngest of 10 children born to Ryan and Ranae Hathaway Kunz.
Colt grew up on the family farm in Victor. Riding horses, moving pipe, riding four-wheelers and motorbikes and working alongside his family were many activities he enjoyed. He became an Eagle Scout at age 13.
