Wade Lynn Hone, 42

November 12, 2013

Wade Lynn Hone, 42, of Idaho Falls and formerly of Blackfoot, passed away on Nov. 7, 2013 as a result of injuries sustained in a single-car accident. He will be sorely missed by family and friends across the United States and beyond.
Wade was born on Aug. 5, 1971, in Mesa, Ariz. He was the first of five children born to his parents, Dennis and Karen Hone. In his first four years, his family moved to Hillsboro, Ore. and then to Bellevue, Iowa for a short time, before finally settling in Blackfoot in 1975.

Cleo Dean Camphouse, 85

Cleo Dean Camphouse, 85 of Blackfoot passed away Sunday Nov. 10, 2013 at his home with his family around him.
 He was born May 13, 1928 in Rexburg, the son of Harry Dioniesius Camphouse and Mary Christina Baggesen Camphouse.  Cleo passed away not wanting to leave his family as they were the most important thing in his life.  Peacefully Cleo went fishing Nov. 10, 2013.
Cleo was raised in a large family; he was next to the youngest of 12 children. All of his brothers and sisters have preceded him in death.

Firth High School honors veterans

From 120 to 130 veterans were honored at the Veterans' Day assembly at Firth High School Monday morning.
"It's an honor to see this many veterans come support us," said Stewart Portela, assembly organizer and Firth military history teacher. "I appreciate the veterans and the community helping.
"I think that's the best program we've ever had," he said.
Firth graders at Firth Middle School thanked the veterans by singing, "Thank You Solder!" The choir was accompanied by the Community Orchestra.

Shelley, Firth to play at Holt on Saturday

POCATELLO — Bingham County football fans have two teams remaining in the Class 3A and Class 2A state tournament.
Shelley and Firth will play in the semifinals of their respective classifications on Saturday.
At 2:30 p.m. Firth will battle West Side at Idaho State University's Holt Arena. The winner will play the winner of the 5 p.m. game between Declo and Wendell, which is also being played at Holt. The two Class 2A survivors will play for the state championship the following week.

Blackfoot woman receives prestigious award for serving veterans

Blackfoot businesswoman Lori Marvin has a passion for serving our country's veterans. Through the years Marvin has organized numerous volunteer projects for the betterment of those who have served our country. Her efforts have not gone unnoticed; Marvin is the recipient of the "Elks Veteran Volunteer of the Year" award. This volunteer award is given to one man and one woman in the state whose service to veterans is reflected in projects within their home Elks Lodge and community.

Firth veterans' assembly scheduled Monday

This is the 20th year Firth High School has hosted a Veterans' Day assembly. The event is open to the public.
Veterans and their families are special guests.
The assembly begins at 10 a.m. Monday in the Firth High School gymnasium, 101 N. Park Ave. Prelude music performed by the Community Orchestra at Firth begins at 9:30 a.m. Members of the student organizations Family, Career and Community Leaders of America (FCCLA) and the Key Club have planned a meal for the veterans and their families following the assembly.

Firth advances in tournament

Connor Montgomery scored four touchdowns to lead Firth to a 46-20 victory over Cole Valley Christian in the Class 2A football quarterfinals on Friday.

Rotary Club presents new mascot statue to BHS

Blackfoot High School has a new addition.  On Thursday high school administrators unveiled a new mascot statue: a rearing bronco which stands 10 feet tall.
The bucking bronco statue is the 2013 service project of the Blackfoot Rotary Club.  
"Our goal is to make our world and our nation and our community better places," said club president David Cannon.  "This year's service project will rally school spirit, as well as a sense of unity among the community."
Cannon's grandfather was an active member in the Rotarian community until his final years.

Zeltha Helen Clegg Rowley, 94

Zeltha Helen Clegg Rowley, 94, of Blackfoot, Idaho passed away Wednesday, November 6, 2013 at the Gem Village Assisted Living in Blackfoot.
Zeltha was born March 4, 1919 in Blackfoot, Idaho to Leslie Richard Clegg and Zila Buttcane.  She was raised in Blackfoot.  While in high school she worked for her father at Clegg Furniture Store as a bookkeeper.  
Following graduation she married Melvin Cook Hooper on June 24, 1936 in the Salt Lake LDS Temple.  They had five children.
