ST. ANTHONY — The Firth Lady Cougars and the North Fremont Lady Huskies met on the hardwood in a rare Monday night affair with a lot riding on the outcome. The winner guaranteed themselves a shot at the district championship and no worse than a second place finish and a Saturday play in game.
The loser's season was to come to an end and unfortunately for the Firth girls and their faithful fans, the later was just what occurred as North Fremont led from start to finish in a 49-30 victory.
A 24-inch collapsed sewer line along Frontage Road in Blackfoot left some residents along Riverton Road knee deep in sewage water.
According to Blackfoot Mayor Mike Virtue, workers discovered the problem Monday morning after noticing that sewer flow had stopped coming into the system.
"That was a sign right that there was some blockage in the system," Virtue said.
While Blackfoot School District 55 trustee Jenny Hong's announcement on Monday to resign from the board may not have come as a big surprise, patrons still reacted strongly to the news.
Hong has been embroiled in the controversy regarding the district's $220,000 payout to former superintendent Scott Crane prompting recall efforts against her and former district chairman Scott Reese, who resigned last week.
Blackfoot School District trustee Jenny Hong announced her resignation from the Blackfoot School Board on Monday. Hong, along with the district's former chairman, Scott Reese, who resigned last week, were in the early stages of being recalled by a group called "Concerned Citizens of District 55" because of "actions and decisions made by the board in regard to the separation agreement between the district and former superintendent Scott Crane."
