MVMS students enjoy pirate meal

It wasn't your usual school lunch for eighth graders at Mountain View Middle School on Thursday. The students feasted on parrot wings, golden carrot doubloons, pirate ship potatoes, tropical key lime pie, hardtack and apple cider grog - the kind of meal that possibly pirates of days gone by may have enjoyed.
The students said they particularly enjoyed making the hardtack - a hard, thick flat cracker, described as "an edible rock" often eaten by sailors out at sea. The crackers are supposed to keep indefinitely and not become spoiled or infested by weevils or grubs.

Snake River reaches championship game in state baseball

FRUITLAND – The Snake River Panthers erupted for 10 runs over the fourth and fifth innings to avenge last season’s Class 3A semifinal loss to the Kimberly Bulldogs by dispatching them 10-0 in five innings on Friday.

Blackfoot baseball to play for consolation title

BOISE – For the first time in over 12 years the Blackfoot Bronco baseball team picked up a state Class 4A tournament win. Fresh off a disappointing round one loss on Thursday, the Broncos got the big monkey off their backs with a thrilling 4-3 win over Minico on Friday.

Season ends for Blackfoot, Shelley softball

POST FALLS – The dream season for the Blackfoot Lady Bronco softball team came to an end on Friday evening with Blackfoot winning one, but dropping two games on day one of the 4A state softball tournament.
The day began well enough with Blackfoot crushing Canyon Ridge, 10-2.
Morningrose Tobey was dominant in the pitching circle for the Lady Broncos while the offense scored early and often in the rout.
Next up for the Lady Broncos was Lakeland which advanced into the second round with a walkoff two-run homer to down heavily favored Kuna.
