Fireworks on sale; officials urge caution

BLACKFOOT—With the '4th of July' just one week away, firework stands have popped up throughout the region. However, with last year's fire season (particularly the June 28th 'Charlotte Fire' in Pocatello that destroyed 66 homes) still fresh in the minds of many, fire officials are urging the public once again, "to use extreme caution."

Blackfoot sweeps Twin Falls

BLACKFOOT — So far this week the Blackfoot American Legion baseball team has played .500 baseball.
After a split with the Idaho Falls Knights on Monday and another split with Wood River on Tuesday, the Broncos took to the field tired, sore but looking for improvement.

In Wednesday's doubleheader with Twin Falls the Broncos put the fatigue behind them and pulled out two big district wins taking game one 9-8 in eight innings and game two 8-2.
So far this summer the Blackfoot offense has come in spurts, some games they get runs in bunches, the rest it is a struggle.

Snake River Library Celebrates 'End of Summer'

THOMAS — Kids are “Digging into Reading” at the Snake River School/Community Library at the “end of summer reading party” on Tuesday.
Food was served. The children made “dirt” by crushing Oreo cookies.
Pudding was added to the dirt for a sweet treat. Watermelon was also
served.
Kids also received free books and chose a flower to take home.

New library director

BLACKFOOT—To say that Lisa Harral "knows the library" is an understatement. Harral started working at the Blackfoot Public Library in 1980 while she was just in high school; now, over 30 years later, Harral has been named Library Director - an opportunity that she welcomes wholeheartedly.
