BLACKFOOT â Stories of Bingham Countyâs history have been compiled into a book entitled âBingham County Memories Volume II.â Local historian Lois Bates compiled it.
Her passion is history.
âI remember climbing into my grandmotherâs lap and begging her to tell me stories about our family,â Bates said.
Her grandmother came from Switzerland.
âThere is so much history that has got to be preserved,â she said. âStories will go away if they are not preserved.â
âIâm excited about this book,â said Bates.
BLACKFOOT â After a long hot summer of baseball the American Legion baseball season entered its final week of the regular season with questions remaining on who will qualify for next week's district tournament in Pocatello.
Larry Tissidimit, 65, a lifetime Fort Hall resident, passed away Tuesday, July 16, 2013 at the Bingham Memorial Hospital.
Â Larry was born Aug. 25, 1947 in Pocatello to Charles S. and Rose Snipe Coby Tissidimit. As a child he loved riding horses and swimming in the canals.Â He attended school in Blackfoot and graduated from Fort Sill Indian School in Lawton, Okla. He attended post-grad in Chillacco, Okla. where he earned a degree in engineering.
He was a member of The Native American Church.
Â In 1970 he married Marianne Watson in Fort Hall.Â
KerriÂ Lynn Spraktes, 45, of Arco, Idaho passed away peacefully in her sleep of diabetes complications on July 13, 2013.Â
She was born December 7, 1967 in Blackfoot, Idaho the daughter of Robert Burroughs and Nancy Lott.
She was a graduate of Mackay High School class of 1986, and spent her working years in the nursing field.Â Her bright spirit and loving heart will be missed by many.
Kerri was preceded in death by her older brother, Jeff Burroughs, whom she adored.Â
BLACKFOOT â Singer Christina Christensen, an âAmericaâs Got Talentâ
finalist, was in Blackfoot Tuesday to raise funds for and promote awareness of cystic fibrosis (CF).
âCF is a disease where mucus builds up in the lungs and/or pancreas,â
said Christina. âEach day treatments can take from 10 to 45 minutes. There are multiple pills and multiple medical treatments.â
Christina and her three sisters all have CF.
âPeople have asked why our parents had any more children after our first sister was diagnosed with CF,â she said.
