The city and county are teaming up for triple celebration on Aug. 16 at the Idaho Potato Museum.
It is the 100th anniversary of the building which was formerly Blackfoot's train station, donated to the city in 1987.
Additionally, it is the 30th anniversary of the Bingham County Historical Society, a non-profit organization dedicated to the preservation of the history of Bingham County and surrounding areas.
IDAHO FALLS â€” Lightning ignited a wildfire in the Wolverine area late this afternoon. The Wolverine Fire is estimated to be 150 acres and is continuing to grow. The fire is located approximately nine miles east of Firth.
BLACKFOOT â€” It is finally here.
After what seems like an eternity the 2013 high school football season will get underway next week as teams all over the state will lace up their cleats and don the pads and helmets to begin practice.
Preston - Devoted and beloved father, grandfather, uncle, brother dad and friend, Homer Leon Nielson, 90, passed away Saturday, July 27, 2013 at the home of his daughter in Blackfoot.Â
He was born Sept. 17, 1922, in Cleveland, Idaho, the ninth child among 10 born to Edgar Odland and Catherine Ann Bevins Nielson.Â His early years were spent on a homestead in the foothills, of the Cleveland mountains on the west side of what was called Gentile Valley.Â
Joyce H. James, 86, passed away July 28, 2013 in Salt Lake City, Utah from natural causes.Â
Joyce was born June 3, 1927 in Idaho Falls to Oliver D. and Violet Hendrickson.
Joyce was raised in Idaho Falls and graduated from high school in 1945.Â She attended college in Logan, Utah at Utah State University.Â While there she met J. Carl James and they were married in the Idaho Falls, Idaho LDS Temple on June 30, 1948.Â At that time Joyce left school and started a family.
BLACKFOOTâ€” Concert tickets for country stars Trace Adkins and Chris Young, along with the always popular Demolition Derby, are proving to be hot commodities as Eastern Idaho State Fair officials have already raked in a record number of ticket sales for this year's grandstand events.
While the grandstand events are not sold out yet, fair officials say they are expecting the concerts and the derby to completely sell out.
