Nicolas Matthew Funk, 27, of Blackfoot passed away Thursday,Â July, 11 2013 at Eastern Idaho Regional Medical Center in Idaho Falls.
Nicolas was born on June 14, 1986 in Pocatello, the son of Randy Line and Patricia Detwiler; He was their only child together.
Blackfoot Mayor Mike Virtue said that the stories going around about swimmer's itch at Jensen Grove are out of control and that there is much misinformation getting out to the public. Virtue said that visitors to Jensen Grove are afraid to go in the water after recent stories and social media postings about swimmer's itch bites with black worms embedded in the skin.
"The swimmers are freaking out. There are no black worms at Jensen Grove that can get into your body and eat your brain," he joked.

Christine Ann Nelson Sirstins, 43, of Salt Lake City, Utah, passed away July 12, 2013 after a brave battle with cancer. Christine was born on March 11, 1970, in Provo, Utah, to Wayne and Sue Nelson. She was the oldest of four children. She grew up in Blackfoot, Idaho, graduating from Blackfoot High School. She continued her education and graduated from BYU. She served a mission for the LDS Church to the Netherlands.
FORT HALL â€” Catholics from throughout the region gathered at the Saint Kateri Tekawitha Catholic Church in Fort Hall for mass and the first Feast Day celebration in honor of the recently canonized Saint Kateri Tekawitha.
More than 300 years ago, Kateri lived in what is now the state of New York. Her mother was Catholic and her father a member of the Algonquin tribe.

BLACKFOOT â€” Camdon Chidester, son of Scott and Linnea Chidester, traveled to Nadi, Yavusania, Fiji for a Humanitarian Experience for Youth (HEFY) trip to assist in building outdoor bathrooms for villagers in need.
HEFY is a nonprofit humanitarian organization for youth ages 16-19. It was established in 1999 to provide LDS teens with humanitarian service opportunities.
HEFY has grown into a vibrant volunteer organization led by a nation-wide advisory council that organizes humanitarian programs for hundreds of volunteers in countries around the globe.
Barbara Joyce Hatten, beloved wife, mother, and grandmother, was born to Gertrude and Jack Hill in December 1936 in Santa Cruz, California, and passed away on Monday, July 1, 2013.Â She raised her children in California but in later life relocated with her husband, Christian Hatten, up to his native Idaho.Â Barbara loved animals and instilled that love in her children.Â She always had a dog and cat in her home and her lap was a favorite resting place for her pets.Â Her living room was always graced with a piano and Barbara often filled the house with her wonderful playing.Â She had a beautiful
Pedro Ramirez Jr., 60, of Blackfoot, Idaho passed away Wednesday, July 10, 2013 at his home.Â
Pedro was born April 14, 1953 in Ft. Morgan, Colorado to Pedro Ramirez and Lucia Garza.Â He has lived most of his life and attended school in Blackfoot, Idaho.
On February 2, 1974 Pedro married Elva Hernandez in Coachella, California.Â They have four children, Lucia â€śLucyâ€ť, Juan, Roy and Stephanie.
