Schmitt K’s 11 in season opening 4-1win over Snake River

March 20, 2014

SHELLEY — With the wind howling somewhere between 25 and 40 mph Thursday afternoon the talk prior to the Shelley Russets season opener with defending 3A state champion Snake River was focused on how the baseball would react to the wind.
But it became evident in the very first inning that hits would be hard to come by as both the Russets and Panthers had their aces on the mound.
Shelley got a bloop two-RBI single from Stockton Stohl and scratched out two more runs in the fourth on the way to a 4-1 win over the Panthers at Shelley High School on Thursday.
