AKI Gallery welcomes local Artist Bekki Mangum

AKI Gallery will host an artist’s reception Saturday, May 2, 2015 from 5:00pm-8:00pm at 41 N. Broadway in Blackfoot. The public is welcome to stop by to visit with Ms. Bekki Mangum. Her work will remain on display at AKI Gallery through the month of May.

In just two short weeks, Reveille VIII, the beloved Texas A&M mascot, will retire to the College of Veterinary Medicine & Biomedical Science’s Stevenson Companion Animal Life-Care Center, where she will continue to be cared for and pampered by its doting students, staff, and faculty.
Reveille VIII, who has charmed thousands of Aggies and many others during her reign of seven years, is set to retire to the Stevenson Center on May 9, when Reveille IX will officially assume her new duties.

Get registered for Binghams got Talent

BLACKFOOT—Registration deadline for Bingham's got Talent is Friday, May 8. Registration forms can be picked up at Music and Families, Jason Lee Memorial United Methodist Church and online at www.jasonleemumc.org. Individuals, groups and all talents welcome. For more information, call 785-3183. The talent show will be Saturday, May 16. Doors open at 6 p.m. for a concert by Lyle Albertson and his Strait Country Band.

• The Extreme Midget Wrestling Federation will be performing at the Shoshone-Bannock Hotel & Event Center to support a new Shoshone-Bannock Wellness Center & Sports Complex on the Fort Hall Reservation. Doors will open at 7 p.m. and the show begins at 8 p.m. Ticket prices are in-advance and are $18 for general seating or $22 for preferred seating. Tickets can be purchased online at www.shobanwcsc.yapsody.com/, at the Timbee Hall gym in Fort Hall or by calling the recreation department at 208-478-3770.

BHS team earns award

BLACKFOOT — Blackfoot High School made history and received a prestigious award at the ‘We the People’ 2015 National Finals in Washington, DC on Monday. The team received the Region Award for the Western States, which implies a mational ranking in the Top 15. This is the highest award ever received by an Idaho school in the 27- year history of the national competition. The award was given to the entire team; reflecting exceptional performances by all 6 units of the team.

Miss Piggy is recipient of prestigious New York museum award

NEW YORK (AP) — A prestigious award from the Brooklyn Museum honors women who have made outstanding contributions in their fields.
This year's surprise honoree is ... Miss Piggy.
The Muppets character joins a distinguished list of recipients of the Sackler Center First Awards. They include theater director Julie Taymor and former Supreme Court Justice Sandra Day O'Connor.
The Daily Beast recently called Miss Piggy "The Gloria Steinem of the Muppet World." She will be interviewed at the June 4 ceremony by the feminist herself.

Blackfoot High School made history On Monday April 27, and received a prestigious award at the ‘We the People’ 2015 National Finals in Washington, DC.
