Blackfoot High School made history On Monday April 27, and received a prestigious award at the â€˜We the Peopleâ€™ 2015 National Finals in Washington, DC. The team received the Region Award for the Western States, which implies a National ranking in the Top 15. This is the highest award ever received by an Idaho School in the 27 year history of the national competition. The award was given to the entire team; reflecting exceptional performances by all 6 units of team. This is a very significant award for any school in the United States!
This is a view from the weather balloon launched from the Snake River High School football field on Thursday. The balloon climbed to around 80,000 feet and saw temperatures at or below -40F, said Cody Marshall who organized this project. Total flight time was about 2.5 hours from around 11:15 a.m. to 1:45 p.m. MDT. If interested, the balloon path can be seen online at aprs.fi and type in the call sign, K7BYI-6. This project was supported by the Snake River School/Community Library through a STEM Makerspaces grant from the Idaho Commission for Libraries.

BLACKFOOT â€“Â EF High School Exchange YearÂ has launched a search for host families in Blackfoot as part of its annual efforts to welcome international exchange students into communities across the United States.
Last year EF connected nearly 3,000 exchange students from around the world with caring host families across the country, and they are expecting to place the same number for 2015-16.
According to Jennifer Alder, an International Exchange Coordinator who helps find homes for EF exchange students in Blackfoot,Â host familiesÂ come in all shapes and sizes.

The final update released by the Idaho State Police states that on April 24, 2015, at 3:57 p.m., ISP investigated an injury crash southbound on I15 at mile marker 103, near the Blackfoot Rest Area.
Both southbound lanes are currently closed on Interstate 15 at milepost 103 due to an accident involving a semi-trailer.
The Idaho State Police reports that traffic is being diverted off the freeway at the Shelley exit 108. Motorists are advised to find an alternate route of travel.
