Linda Jean Chaffin Warner, 60, formerly of Swan Valley, passed away Saturday, Dec. 3, 2011 at her home in Lake Havasu City, Arizona.
Memorial services in Lindaâ€™s honor will be held at 11 a.m. Tuesday, Jan. 3, 2012 at Wood Funeral Home (273 North Ridge Ave.). The family will visit with friends from 10-10:45 a.m. prior to services at Woodâ€™s. There will be a luncheon afterward at the Eagles Lodge (635 Hemmert Avenue) in Idaho Falls and following that, there will be a gathering at the Covered Wagon in Swan Valley. BLACKFOOT â€” The Blackfoot Education Association hosted an open forum with Rep. Dennis Lake and Sen. Steve Bair Tuesday night to allow teachers and others in the community to openly discuss issues prior to the start of the 2012 Idaho legislative session.
"We wanted an opportunity to visit with them, remind them of our concerns," said organizer Bekki Mangum, who teaches at Mountain View Middle School.
The forum turned into a roundtable discussion with teachers expressing their concerns about education including budget cuts, education reform, pay for performance and online classes.

Diana Myers, 55, of Blackfoot passed away Monday, December 26, 2011 at her home from cancer.
Funeral arrangements are pending under the direction of Hawker Funeral Home.
Gerralynne Kaye Walker, 48, of Blackfoot passed away Thursday, December 22, 2011 at her home.
She was born July 13, 1963 in Idaho Falls, Idaho the daughter of Georgia Kay Hepworth and Richard Floyd Hawkes.
Gerralynne lived her entire life in Blackfoot attending schools in Blackfoot and graduated from Blackfoot High School in 1981.
She was a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints.
She enjoyed painting and other arts, loved her animals, grandchildren and spending time with her family.
FIRTH â€” Firth High School students presented 18 bereavement kits to the director of the Women's Center at Eastern Idaho Regional Medical Center in Idaho Falls Thursday.
These kits will be given to families whose baby died before birth, said Janice Anthony, the Family and Consumer Science teacher at FHS.
Included in each kits is a kimono, a nine-patch blanket and a knitted hat. The kimonos are sewn in varying sizes for the different sizes of the babies.
Students in Anthony's Fashion Design classes made these kits and used looms to knit 43 hats.
BLACKFOOT â€” Earlier this week a jury in Bannock County and Idaho's Sixth Judicial District found two former employees of Premier Technology guilty of violating the Idaho Trade Secrets Act.
In a case dating from late 2007, Chadd Orr and Jeff Schutte were accused of conspiring with Petersen, Inc., an Ogden, Utah-based competitor to Premier Technology, to damage Premier's customer base in an effort to devalue it and eventually buy it.

BLACKFOOT â€” Family and friends of Chris Gardner gathered at Blackfoot High School Thursday afternoon for the dedication of the new gym in his honor.
Gardner, who died in 2010 in an ATV accident, was a teacher, coach and principal in the Blackfoot School District before retiring in 2008. He also officiated high school football and basketball games for 30 years.
Neva Maxine Crowell Burks, 85, of Shelley passed away Wednesday, Dec. 21, 2011 at The Gables of Shelley.
A funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. on Tuesday, Dec. 27, 2011 at Hawker Funeral Home, 132 South Shilling Avenue in Blackfoot.Â Family will meet with friends and relatives from 6 to 8 p.m. on Monday Dec. 26, 2011 and for one hour prior to services at the funeral home.Â Interment will follow at the Grove City Cemetery.Â
