Marlow’s four goals lead Lady Russets to win over Aberdeen

SHELLEY — So far this season the Shelley Lady Russets have been a goal scoring machine.
Through the seasons first there games the team has outscored their opponents 24-2 and none of the three victories were by a margin smaller than four goals.
Saturday the Lady Russets welcomed county foe Aberdeen to town and unfortunately for the Lady Tigers the result of the game would be the same as the Russets previous opponents.
Kira Marlow scored four goals and freshman Brittney Baron added two more as Shelley crushed the Tigers 7-0.

Broncos hang on for win over Griz

BLACKFOOT — The Blackfoot Broncos are on a roll.
Dating back to last season the Broncos had won four of their last five games.
Friday night the Skyline Grizzlies came to Blackfoot, and while it wasn't the prettiest of games the Broncos kept on wining earning a 24-21 win.
Leading 24-14 after a Pacen Hayes 10-yard touchdown run,the Broncos were looking for a defensive stop.
But Skyline marched down the field and quarterback Benton Mitchell found a wide open Brannon Whyte in the end zone for a touchdown cutting the Broncos lead to 24-21.

Esplin wins gold at nationals

FIRTH — A recent Firth High School graduate earned a gold medal at the Family, Career and Community Leaders of America (FCCLA) National Leadership Conference.
Celeste Esplin, a 2014 graduate of FHS, earned a gold medal in the Illustrated Talk category with her presentation entitled "Mirror, Mirror." This was her fourth year competing at Nationals, and her fourth year receiving a gold medal.

Lady Russets crush Cougars 13-1

SHELLEY — The Shelley Lady Russets have looked like a state title contender during the first two games of the soccer season.
Outscoring their opponents 12-1 in the first two game head coach Jim Gregory has had plenty to be happy about.
Thursday afternoon the Lady Russets had their home opener against district rival South Fremont and by the time the 80 minutes was over the Russets had surpassed their goal total for the season in one game.
Freshman Brittney Baron had a hat trick as eight different players scored in Shelley's 13-1 win at Shelley High School.

Bikers ride as tribute to Bo

BLACKFOOT—It was a somber sight to see the bikes rolling down Shilling Street , escorting the body of Bo Taylor to the cemetery following his funeral on Thursday.
Taylor, 19, and his uncle Trent Sorensen (45) died last week while repairing a sewer line in Georgetown. The two apparently succumbed to toxic fumes.

Blackfoot boy selected as Hometown Hero

For Alec Carlson of Blackfoot, helping his mother comes naturally and it's just what he does; but to his mother, "he is a hero." Now, Alec, just 11 years old, will be recognized as the youngest recipientt of "Idaho's Hometown Hero Medal."
Alec will receive his medal at the fourth annual Idaho's Hometown Hero Medal ceremony on Saturday at 6 p.m. at the Stephens Performing Arts Center in Pocatello.

Broncos, Bobcats play to 1-1 draw

BLACKFOOT — On a day as windy as Wednesday was trying to play anything in the air would prove to be a challenge.
During pre game warmups the Blackfoot and Madison girls soccer teams spent a majority of their warmups figuring out how to play the ball downfield without it getting caught up in the 25-35 mph winds.
After winning the coin flip the Broncos had the chance to play with the wind at their backs in the first half and the Broncos took advantage by sending as many balls towards the Bobcats net as possible.

Bo Jody Taylor, 19
It is with great sorrow that the family of Bo Jody Taylor, 19, of Blackfoot, Idaho announces his passing on Thursday, Aug. 28, 2014 in Montpelier, Idaho from injuries sustained in an accident while doing what he enjoyed and loved.
Bo was born Jan. 12, 1995 in Idaho Falls, Idaho, the son of Jody Taylor and April Collins.
Bo graduated from Butte High School in Butte, Montana. Bo was an all-around athlete. He excelled in track, wrestling and his favorite of all, football, where he and his teammates brought home the state championship his senior year.

Lillie Laurene Provost Ghangraw, 88

Lillie Laurene Provost Ghangraw, 88, of Fort Hall, Idaho passed away Monday, Sept. 1, 2014 at her home.
Lillie was born Aug. 25, 1926 in Fort Hall, Idaho to Grant Martin and Abbie Stone.  She lived her entire lifetime in Gibson, Idaho.  
In 1942 Lille married “Lee” Leland Broncho; he preceded her in death on Jan. 23, 1990.  She then married Everett Ghangraw on July 4, 1974.
Lillie retired from the INL.  In her free time she enjoyed gardening, needlepoint, crochet, beadwork and raising farm animals.  

Debra (Christensen) Merle, 60

Debra (Christensen) Merle, 60, passed away on Thursday, Aug. 28, 2014.
Debra was born Sept. 17, 1953, to Grant and Marcia (Mcintyre) Christensen in St. Anthony, Idaho. Debra graduated from Blackfoot High School in 1971 and went on to earn an associate in Criminal Justice. She was an in home caretaker and worked for the Department of Labor. Debra enjoyed casinos, camping and off road mudding. Debra was a gunsmith and she loved guns.
