FLOWER POT: Jan. 11, 2:28 p.m.: A caller said someone threw a flower pot through their front window.
ON THIN ICE: Jan. 12, 5:39 p.m.: A caller said there are three children on the ice at Jensen Grove.
SHOPPING FOR WOMEN: Jan. 12, 5:51 p.m.: A woman said there is a man at Ridley's that is stalking women. She said he followed her though the store and she was uncomfortable so she asked someone from the store to escort her to her vehicle. She said he has an accent and is approaching women who are walking into Ridley's alone.
FIRTH â€”Â Two Firth High School graduates who are now Bingham County deputy sheriffs addressed bullying and sexting at a school assembly on Monday. They addressed students from the high school, the middle school and about 30 parents.
The intent of this assembly was to educate students, said Bingham County Sheriff's Deputy Burkam Burnett.
Addressing the students, Burnett said, "Parents are responsible for you until you are 18 years old. Before you do something, think, 'would I do this in front of my parents?'
Whatever you do must be reported to your parents, he said.
BLACKFOOT â€” Nikki Asher knew she needed to change her life. She had seen family members suffer from complications related to obesity and diabetes and she had been overweight her entire life, trying various diets and exercise to no avail.
Last year she decided to have adjustable gastric banding surgeryâ€”Lap-Bandâ€”performed by Dr. Anthony Davis at Bingham Memorial Hospital. The Lap-Band system reduces the stomach's capacity, restricting the amount of food able to enter the stomach.
BLACKFOOT â€” The first major winter storm is set to arrive in Eastern Idaho late tonight and persisting through the weekend, bringing heavy snow to the mountains and a mess of rain and snow to lower elevations.
Very strong and possibly damaging winds will accompany the storm, causing blowing and drifting snow. Current forecasts call for winds of up to 33 mph tonight and as high as 46 mph Saturday night.
Naomi Pharis, 88, a longtime Groveland area resident, died Sunday, Jan. 15, 2012, at her home following an illness. Funeral services are tentatively set for Thursday and a full obituary will be announced by Hawker Funeral Home.
Mary A. Smith, 97, of Blackfoot passed away Sunday, Jan, 15, 2012 at The Renaissance Assisted Living Center in Blackfoot.
Services are pending and will be announced by Hawker Funeral Home in Blackfoot.
Vera Colleen Arrington Choate Thurman, 89, of Blackfoot passed away Thursday, Jan. 12, 2012 at her home.
She was born on May 3, 1922 in Woodville, Texas, to William David Arrington and Martha Ella Elizabeth Odom Arrington.Â She was the last child to join a family of four sisters and five brothers.
She was a farm girl and learned to work hard early.Â She was a tomboy and worked in the fields with her brothers.
Â THOMAS â€“ Elementary teachers from Southeastern Idaho spent Saturday attending an Invent Idaho workshop. Teachers were from Snake River, Shelley, the Idaho Science and Technology Charter School (ISTCS) and Pocatello.
The workshop is designed to help students â€śthink outside the box.â€ť
â€śAs teachers, we try to inspire creative thinking as a springboard to inventive thinking,â€ť presenter Beth Brubaker said. â€śThe first thing we teach kids is problem finding.â€ť

That's why Ann went against everything she has been taught about the ice.
On Nov. 29 she went to Jensen Grove with her three schnauzers to feed some leftover popcorn to the ducks. Two of the dogs were on a leash with the third allowed to roam.
"I let the one that usually minds the best just run free," she said.
She came to regret that decision.
