Christina Marie Sorensen, 92

July 27, 2011

Christina Marie Sorensen, 92, of Blackfoot passed away Thursday, July 21, 2011, at Eastern Idaho Regional Medical Center in Idaho Falls.
Marie was born Aug. 25, 1918, in Yates, Utah, to Lorenzo and Margaret Munson.  She lived in Utah until the age of two when she moved to Idaho. She spent most of her youth working on the family farm. She was next to youngest of five children.
Marie married Harris “Doc” Sorensen in Blackfoot. They had three sons, Dale, Claren and Grant. They were later divorced.

Ray D. DeRoche, 83, of Blackfoot passed away July 25, 2011, at Eastern Idaho Regional Medical Center in Idaho Falls.
Funeral services will be at 11 a.m. Saturday, July 30, 2011, at the Blackfoot Stake Center (1650 Highland Drive). The family will receive friends Friday from 7-8:30 p.m. and Saturday from 10-10:40 a.m., both at the church.
Interment will be in the Shelley Hillcrest Cemetery. Arrangements are under the direction of Nalder Funeral Home in Shelley.

Tribes celebrate opening of Trading Post

FORT HALL — Members of the Fort Hall Business Council and of the Greater Pocatello and Greater Blackfoot Chambers of Commerce celebrated the grand opening of a new grocery store on Wednesday.
The store is the Trading Post at Fort Hall. It replaces one which was closed and torn down to make way for the new hotel and events center now under construction.
Nathan Small, the chairman of the business council, thanked the Chamber members who came in support of the Shoshone-Bannock Tribes, who own and operate the facility.

Pamela Raye Ramsey Heberling, 59

Pamela Raye Ramesy Heberling, 59, of Blackfoot, passed away Sunday, July 24, 2011, at her home while under the care of Access Hospice of Pocatello. Her loving husband and family was at her side.
Pam was born in Burley on May 24, 1952. She was the third child of William “Bill” and Glenna Loveless Ramsey. She was raised on a farm in the Heyburn area. She was a tomboy and loved the outdoors. She enjoyed riding horses with her dad and family in the mountains. She loved rough and tumble, but grew up to be such a lady!

He was born Aug. 6, 1921, in Roberts, the son of Albert I. and Myrtle Roscoe Harris.

Pamela Raye Ramsey Heberling, 59, of Blackfoot, passed away Sunday, July 24, 2011, at her home while under the care of Access Hospice of Pocatello. Her loving husband and family was at her side.

BPAC announces concert season

BLACKFOOT – The Blackfoot Performing Arts Center will feature five outstanding concerts for its 2011-2012 Concert Series. The first one will kick off Oct. 15 with country singing legend Gary Morris.
Tickets for the series can be purchased as a package or individually. BPAC Programming Director Susan Mann says tickets will be discounted to $15 each if purchased for the entire series. Individual ticket prices will be higher.
Last year's season ticket holders have until Aug. 30 to reserve their same seats. All seats will go on sale to the general public Sept. 1.
