Dell Edwin BadHawk Sr., 77

June 28, 2011

Dell Edwin BadHawk Sr., 77, returned to the Creator on Friday, June 24, 2011, with family by his side at The Portneuf Rehab Center in Pocatello due to health complications.
Dell Edwin BadHawk Sr. was born on Jan. 11, 1934, in Poplar, Mont., to Katie Looking and Jacob BadHawk Sr. He is a member of The Fort Peck Assiniboine-Sioux Tribes. He was the eldest of 12 siblings.
As a young man he worked as a laborer in the agricultural industry.
He joined the United States Marine Corps in his teens. During the Korean Conflict, he served as a sergeant in 1951.

4 Snake River soccer players headed to Europe

THOMAS — Four Snake River soccer players will spend the month of July in Europe.
Michael Smith, Andy Garcia, Adam Ortiz and Cooper Peterson have earned positions on the United Soccer Club. They will play "friendlies" through Italy and then compete in tournaments in Sweden and Denmark.
The United Soccer Club is organized just for this [European] trip, said United coach Chris Renaldo.
All four have played together since they were in grade school. They are on the Snake River High School soccer team as well the Black Snakes Elite team in Blackfoot.

Cookbook on healthy eating debuts

SHELLEY – Healthy eating was front and center Saturday at The Ribbon Retreat in Shelley.
Barbara Moulton’s cookbook, “Just for the Health of It!” debuted. Moulton is from Shelley and is a registered dietitian and diabetes educator with Rocky Mountain Diabetes.
“When someone is diagnosed with diabetes, one of his or her first questions is, ‘What can I eat?’” Moulton said. “This book uses real food found in everyone’s kitchen to help answer that question.”
“I’ve always enjoyed cooking and changing recipes to make them healthier,” she said.

Larry Grimmett, 63

Larry A. Grimmett, 63, of Blackfoot passed away June 26, 2011, at the University of Utah Hospital in Salt Lake City, Utah, after a long illness.
Larry was born on May 5, 1948, in John Day, Ore., to Elden Grimmett and Ethel Sims Grimmett Savage.
He graduated from John F. Kennedy High School in Cypress, Calif., and then served in the United States Army in Vietnam. 
Larry worked for the Union Pacific Railroad as a carman welder for 30 years. 

Delbert Duchscher, 56

Delbert Lee Duchscher, 56, of Blackfoot passed away Saturday, June 25, 2011, at his home.
He was born on Dec. 16, 1954, in Blackfoot to Delbert Roy Herman and Jennie Mae McCalluy. He has lived his entire life in Blackfoot. He attended school in the Snake River School District.
Delbert served in the United States Army.
On Feb. 10, 1982, he married Thelma Jones in Rigby, they were later divorced.         
He was a member of the Catholic Church.
Delbert was a truck driver for many years and enjoyed being on the road.
He liked be outdoors, fishing, camping, wrestling and watching WWC.

Randee Colin Bowman, 58

Randee Colin Bowman, 58, of Blackfoot, passed away on Sunday, June 26, 2011, at his home.
According to his wishes no services are planned at this time.
The family is under the care of Hawker Funeral Home and memorial condolences may be emailed to condolences@hakwerfuneralhome.com.

Danny Junior Eagle, 58

Danny Junior Eagle, 58, of Pocatello passed away Saturday, June 25, 2011, at the Portneuf Care and Rehabilitation Center in Pocatello.
Danny was born Nov. 9, 1952, in Pocatello to Ella Sambo and Paul Eagle of Fort Hall. Later in childhood he was adopted by Homer and Nell Cutler of Ross Fork Creek.
Danny attended school in the Fort Hall area and graduated from Blackfoot High School in 1971.  While in high school he was active in the Rodeo Club, FFA and Indian Club.

Bailey Marie Morgan, infant

Bailey Marie Morgan, 4-month-old infant daughter of Pocatello residents Kelly and Diane Morgan, died Thursday, June 23, 2011, from Sudden Infant Death Syndrome.
Survivors include her parents, Kelly Joseph Morgan and Diane Marie McFetridge Morgan, her sister Brooke Ann Morgan (2), all of Pocatello, grandparents Virgil and Debbie Morgan, Ione, Ore., and Darrell and Marlie McFetridge of Enterprise, Ore.
Funeral services will be conducted at 10 a.m. Monday, June 27, 2011, at the Hawker Funeral Home in Blackfoot. The family will meet with friends for an hour prior to services.

Barbara Pendlebury, 89

Barbara Jane Poole Fowers Pendlebury, age 89, died on June 25, 2011, at home in Blackfoot following a lingering illness.
She was born on May 16, 1922, in Rexburg, the daughter of Leslie E. and Leona Hoopes Poole. She attended two years of elementary school in Rexburg, then finished her education in Idaho Falls, graduating from Idaho Falls High School in 1940. She also attended the University of Idaho. She cherished the memories of the years she spent with her beloved grandparents in Rexburg, and had many friends throughout her life who touched her deeply.

Twice as Nice, Tarkon wins Von Elm

BLACKFOOT — Last years defending champion Steve Tarkon is going pro. He has stated this on many occasions and local golfers would like nothing better than to see the spry young 24 year old pack his bags and head out onto the professional tour because over the weekend, Tarkon successfully defended his Von Elm championship by firing a two day total 139 en route to the 2011 title.
