Mary Louise Chapman, formerly of Blackfoot, passed away on June 20, 2011, with her family at her side. She will be remembered as a loving and generous wife, mother, grandmother and friend.
Graveside services will be held at 1 p.m. on Thursday, Sept. 8, 2011, at the Grove City Cemetery in Blackfoot.Â Arrangements are under the direction of Hawker Funeral Home.Â Condolences may be sent to the family at firstname.lastname@example.org.
Gwenevier âGwenâ LuDean Fisher, 59, of Fort Hall passed away Sunday, July 17, 2011. at the Southwest Idaho Advanced Care Hospital in Boise surrounded by her family.
She was born May 13, 1952, to Edison Dixey, Sr. and Adeline âEldeanâ George in Blackfoot.
Gwen attended elementary and junior high school in Blackfoot and graduated from Blackfoot High School in 1970. She later attended Idaho State University, taking secretarial classes.
On Nov. 5, 1982, Gwen married the love of her life, Glenn D. Fisher.

Sindy Higley, formerly of Blackfoot, passed away July 16, 2011, at her home in Kuna after a five-year battle with cancer. Sindy was the wife of Scott Higley, also formerly of Blackfoot.
Funeral services will be held July 19 at 11 a.m. in the Kuna 3rd Ward building on Deer Flat Road in Kuna. The family will meet with friends at 10 a.m. before the services. A burial service will be on Wednesday, July 20, at the Mountain View Cemetery in Pocatello at 11:30 a.m.
Chester Wahlen, 90, of Aberdeen passed away Monday, July 18, 2011, at his home.
A funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. on Monday, July 25, 2011, at the Lakeview LDS Chapel in Springfield.Â Family will meet with friends and relatives from 6-8 p.m. Sunday, July 24, 2011, and from 9-10:30 a.m. on Monday prior to services at the church.

JOINT BASE BALAD, Iraq â Spc. Crystal Gregan, a driver and gunner assigned to Golf Company, 3rd Battalion, 116th Cavalry Regiment, 77th Sustainment Brigade, 310th Expeditionary Sustainment Command, and a native of Blackfoot does not mince words regarding why she is stationed at Joint Base Balad, Iraq.
âThis deployment is my patriotic duty. Iâve always been proud of my country,â Gregan said.
BLACKFOOT â Kim Tweedy loves his job. He is the owner of Tweedyâs Music, 335 W. Judicial St. in Blackfoot. The store is open from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m., Monday through Friday and from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. each Saturday.
âIâve got the best job in town and you can put that in the newspaper,â he said.
Tweedyâs Music has been open 12 years this August. Itâs a full-line music store with instruments, sheet music, a full repair bench and band rentals, Tweedy said.
âI really cherish my customers,â he said. âI canât say enough good about my customers.â
Becky Darla Freeman, 47, of Blackfoot passed away July 15, 2011, at the Portneuf Medical Center in Pocatello.
She was born Nov. 6, 1963, in Pocatello the daughter of Raymond Thorpe and Gloria Hencley Reed.
Becky attended school in Blackfoot.
She lived in Wapello during her childhood years. She then moved to Blackfoot,Goshen and Riverside and moved back to Blackfoot for the remainder of her life.
Becky worked at Basic American foods as an operator and supervisor for 23 years.
PINGREE â As a run-up to the 4-H Fair Aug. 1-3, 4-H club members practiced showing their steers in Bingham County Steer Jackpot. The event was Saturday at Val and Heather Carterâs show ring south of Pingree.
In the jackpot, the entry fee comes back to the participants. It was open to all Bingham County 4-H members raising cattle.
Twenty steers were put through their paces. The 4-H members were judged on their showmanship and the quality of the animal.
Showmanship is how the 4-H member grooms his/her steer and how he/she handles the animal in the ring.
